I was recently given the opportunity to learn about cooking with sausage, in a variety of flavors such as mild, sweet, hot flavors, encased and ground. Cooking sausage products has been relatively foreign to me. If I did cook pork it was the rare occasion of bacon with breakfast, which… MORE

About this Cook
I have been a member with a profile since 2007, but was scoping the site many years before that printing recipes. It was a life saver in college and continues to be well used today, as my eating habits change. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts. I also received a certification in Culinary Arts, from a local community college, out of interest and to help me pay my bills to complete my college.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking, baking, and trying a variety of new recipes. However, for most every day dinners, I tend to make quick, lightened, or healthy meals. In my quest to be healthier, I was looking for easy solutions. I saw a Vitamix demo at a craft fair and it was a no-brainer. I use it near daily for breakfast or lunch. Feel free to like my page below on Facebook, if interested in my favorite blender recipes. My favorite family cooking traditions
We had quite a few growing up. Too many to mention. Now, I enjoy finding new recipes, to make each year, to take to holiday parties. I have a few recipe boxes, one which is just for holidays, which keeps expanding.
My cooking triumphs
As a child it was baking and decorating dozens of Christmas cookies, each year, at my grandmas. Currently, it is all my ever growing knowledge in cooking and baking and becoming an Allrecipes Allstar. Here is a video, I was a happy part of, for Kahlua and Allrecipes.com: http://allrecipes.com/video/4106/kahlua-coffee-break/detail.aspx
My cooking tragedies
I am sure we have all had a few, that's how we learn. My biggest kitchen dissasters were having a glass dish explode in the oven and using a broiler for the first time and catching the vegetables on fire. I have learned, don't ever leave the broiler when it's on.

Avocado and Black Bean Dip
This made for a quick and easy snack. I was confused if the beans and avocado were mashed together because of the picture. I just mixed the beans in initially. The color gets a funky green brown if mashed together I found. I thought the lime was quite pronounced. It did give it a fresh flavor. Not my favorite bean dip, but it was gone fast.

Knock-Off of Chipotle(R) Guacamole
This tasted pretty good. The texture and color is spot on. I used a potato masher. Only change was leaving out the jalepenos, as I never tasted heat from theirs. Something seemed to be missing. I wasnt sure. I added a little extra squeeze of lime juice. The more it sits, the more the flavors meld. I made 1/2 recipe and it does make a good sized bowl. I would make this again for a bean burrito.

Peaches and Cream
I LOVE quick yet fairly nutritious recipes that work for 1 or 2 people. This tasted like a fruit/peach salad when the sour cream, fresh peaches, and brown sugar meld together. I used reduced fat sour cream as my only tweak and because I used fresh picked sweet white peaches I did not bother to peel them. Ty
