Last night I thawed ground beef and chicken so I could try two recipes today (but I may try three or more). I put them both in the fridge thinking they would be thawed in 12 hours. I was wrong. About this Cook
I am a typical college student, unsure of my degree choice. I like cooking but don't seem to have the time or energy to ever do so. I am taking culinary classes in my last 2 semesters getting my associates and I am hoping that I love it but I am also hoping I haven't wasted 2 years on a degree I won't use!!!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are foreign dishes (Indian, etc.) and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was a kid my mother made something called glug every Christmas and Thanksgiving (the recipe is on my page!) And that is the only tradition I like to continue. My fiance doesn't like glug but I can still make It for myself =)
My cooking triumphs
Well I work as a cake decorator at Harris Teeter and have decorated some pretty awesome cakes (not to toot my own horn!)hopefully I will have some pretty kickass stories to tell after my semester of culinary!
My cooking tragedies
I tried a Black Forest Cake, that didn't work well, it tasted great, but didn't work. I mixed the strawberries in the frosting instead of putting it between the layers. As a cake decorator at Harris Teeter the first thing I learned to make was a black forest cake and the second time around it was awesome =)

Concord Grape Pie I
I made this as a joke for my friends in my sophomore year in high school. It was a hit! It took such a long time to make and was eaten in minutes, but it was so worth it.

Real Homemade Tamales
I adore this tamale recipe. Each time I make it it is such a hit! I brought some to school and one of my teachers (who was married to a Hispanic and spent years among Mexican and Cuban cultures)said they were the best she has had, and many of my Mexican friends (whose parents often don't speak English, so I know their food is authentic!) said these are just as good as their mothers make. Point is, THEY ARE GREAT!
