Indian Tacos with Yeast Fry Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2012
The bread came out really dense and I was not very impressed. Don't get me wrong it was not bad just not as good as I remember fry bread being, I prefer it lighter and fluffier. I have had this at the Native American area at Cheyenne Frontier Day's before and my husband's mother used to make it and probably learned it from a Native American, as she used to do volunteer work at reservations all the time. But I should point out I also had the title of best step-mom ever bestowed upon me after my daughter ate her's, so really it was not terrible. *I used my own recipe for the meat.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
The garlic burnt up in the first 5 minutes. I was worried about that. I must admit I took some other reviewers advice and used a butter oil garlic mixture instead of following the recipe to the T. I ended up covering with tinfoil but I think that made me need to cook longer. It ended up with an outer harder layer of chicken and the burnt garlic. I know this recipe has potential and could taste great if I could get the cooking time down and fix the garlic burning problem. I will try again, with the digital meat thermometer and lower the oven rack from the top more, maybe use garlic powder??

Soy Sauce Substitute

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
Made this when I ran out of soy sauce and needed it for another recipe. It was so close to the taste of real soy sauce but not quite all there (which is why I give it 4 stars). Don't get me wrong though this will do the trick and wont disappoint. I am going to make it for my mom, who is on a special diet with no soy. I need to find bouillon with no msg though.

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
These were delicious! I only used the recipe for the bread though. My husbands Mom makes these, and mine were as good as hers (after I got the kinks worked out). I didn't have a thermometer or deep fryer last time I made them. They got really puffy! A little too puffy from how big they are supposed to be, but still delicious.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
I added more zuicchini, probably around 1 cup. By the way, the dough really gets easier to work with after you add the zucchini

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
Great start for a recipe, I did make the changes most others suggest. No water, subbed salsa for tomato sauce, green chiles for green bell peppers, added a little cayenne pepper, and used the red enchilada sauce recipe (from this website) instead of taco sauce. Everyone who's had them loves them! This time I am going to try adding a little cream cheese to the inside.

Indonesian Satay

DELICIOUS!!!! The whole family liked it! I marinated for maybe 40 minutes, and only had smart balance oil instead of peanut oil, everything else I did just like the recipe said! I'm sure I'll be making this at least a few times a month! sooooo goood

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
I love this recipe! I've made it a few times, the last few times, I thought it was a little bland, so I will try some of the others suggestions this time to give it more flavor (worcestershire sauce, garlic, etc)

Great, mine didnt cook in the center so I had to keep checking them, it took a lot of extra time, then they got hard on the bottom from the cinnamon sugar dripping out.

Salsafied Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Not bad, but it seemed like something was missing. I did use brown rice that I cooked ahead of time, so that might of been if. Next time I may try adding some green chilies.

Kickin' Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
Fabulous!!! This reminds me of home! Based on the recommendations of others, I add a ham hock and cook in the broth for 30 minutes first ( I just used a crock pot on high to heat broth and hock while prepping everything) I also added 1T brown sugar, a few pickled jalapenos. I cook onions, garlic, then greens in pan until greens are nice and wilted and then throw it all in the crock pot on high for around 4 hours. The length of time is up to you, I usually try it to see if it's good. I think the longer it cooks the better!
