Henri Hounds Gourmet Crunchy Carrot Cake Dog Treats.

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2012
I am the original submitter of this recipe ~ These dog biscuits require the use of Wheat flour which some dogs are sensitive to, if so its so easy to modify this recipe, simply substitute one cup of wheat flour for 1-1/4 cup of rye or oat flour or ¾ cup, rice, barley or potato flour.

Honey Mustard Beer Brats

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
This is a pretty good recipe ~ I did grill the sausages before hand. Next time I will add the vegetables in the last two hours, as the way the recipe is written they were just mush! But a nice tasting and easy meal.

Fiber One® Chocolate-Peanut Butter Haystacks

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
I made these as part of the All Stars challenge for the month of February. My family is not a fan of peanut butter ~ so I kept putting making these off. Then I saw the footnote at the bottom of the page with a version using white Chocolate. Oh perfect, so I made a batch of these today and also added a hand full of dried cranberries. They were so delicious, certain I will be making these again.

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2012
This is a great soup but I did change it a little, I used stock in place of the water and used heavy cream in place of the half and half. I did take a lot longer than the 30 minutes to thicken but that may be down to useing thick cream. As I needed to save time, I did use the pre-cooked bacon that i added with cheese once served. tthis really was a great filling soup, perfect for these snowy winter days.

Great-Aunt Nina's Noodles and Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
This is a great recipe but as I wanted this as a soup I did make a few changes. I used fresh vegetables (Celery, Onion, Carrots and Haricot Verts) Sauteed these for about 10 minutes with garlic and black pepper until just softened. I did not make the noodles due to lack of time so used mini pasta which I added to the crock-pot uncooked 2 hours before serving. Also used 6 chicken breasts and 6 cups of stock which I added to the crock pot right at the start of cooking along with 1 teaspoon basil and two bay leaves. Needed to add plenty of ground black pepper for my families tastes but this was so good and incredibly easy to make. Will certainly be using this recipe again.

Slow Cooker BBQ Flat Iron Steak Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
This is just an OK recipe. I followed the recipe exactly even used the dried chopped onion, I know some people have opted to use fresh onion instead but I made these for my sons dinner tonight and my youngest son refuse to eat it! I found the steak dry, the taste I personally did not like. Just did not taste like BBQ to me, my kids thought it was ok. I don't think this is a recipe I will be using again.

Veggie Meatball Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
Gosh I love this recipe although I did tweak it a little. I used fresh vegetables (Celery, Onion, Carrots and Haricot Verts) Sauteed these for about 10 minutes with garlic and black pepper until just softened. I Used a 20oz bag of frozen meatballs (Thawed) and also used mini pasta with I added to the crock-pot uncooked 2 hours before serving. I did pulse the tomatoes for a short time in the blender before adding. Needed to add plenty of ground black pepper for my families tastes but this was so good and incredibly easy to make.

Gingersnap Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
I am a huge fan of ginger so this ice cream could not be more perfect for me. I Just adored the combination of ginger and vanilla. I only lightly smashed the cookies so that I had nice size chunks. I will certainly be making this recipe again.

Dad's Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
This is a wonderful banana bread. I did not have any flax seed meal, so made my own by putting flax seeds in the food processor. Also added 2 teaspoons of banana extract. BUT there must be an error in the bake time, wondering whether this is a publishing error as after 25 minutes like the recipe states my cake was still total goo! Had to cook for a total for 65 minutes.

Banana Walnut Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2012
I had some half and half that needed using up, so hunting through AR I came across this recipe. I have not made ice cream for a long time, so I followed the recipe exactly, other than halving all ingredients to fit in my 1.5 quart ice cream maker (it fitted in perfectly). I did add just over a teaspoon of Banana extract. I chopped up the walnut's slightly. I just loved the taste of this ice cream, perfect. This really will become a summer favorite!

Slow-Cooker Lasagne

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
Just the thought of Lasagna in a slow cooker sounded criminal to me. I love Lasagna and thought I would have to give it a try. I doubled all the ingredients, used a mixture of Parmesan, Mozarella and pepper jack cheese. I added onion and garlic also to the beef when cooking. and 1 cup of half and half to the cheese mixture as it looked way to thick. The Lasagna cooked well in the slow cooker and actually looked appealing even though it didn't have the usual golden melted cheese crust! I actually did not actually like the texture it just seemed to dry. I am not sure I will be making this again, if so I will do some research to see what else I can do to make it taste more like my usual oven lasagna. Glad I experimented!

Cherry Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
OMG ~ These are just fabulous! I love them, and they look perfect for Valentines!!! I did not make the glaze, followed the recipe exactly other than adding 2 teaspoons of Almond extract (you just have to pair cherries with almond!!). I made 16 regular sized muffins and baked for 21 minutes. PERFECTO!!!

Lemon Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
Great moist lemon cake, I did change this recipe slightly due to some of the other reviews. I added 2 teaspoons lemon extract, a few drops of yellow food colouring and 1 tablespoons of poppy seeds. I also reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup. So pleased with both the texture and taste of this lemon loaf. It cooked to perfection in my new Nordic Ware Lemon Loaf pan.

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
This was a good overall recipe, although I did find the 15 green cardamom pods a little over-powering. I used hot curry spices and pastes. I did have problems finding the tandoori masala, so I made my own. http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/63077657/tandoori-masala-spice-mix/detail.aspx

Apple Mincemeat Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
Easy to make, I can't personally comment on the taste as I am not a fan of mincemeat although it was loved by my men. I used Robinson's mincemeat that I purchased from Worldmarket and shredded the apples rather than chopped. Looked and smelt like the typical christmas pies we had back at home.

Andy's Spicy Green Chile Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2012
This is one spicy green chile. Easy to make, I did want the vegetables but by the end of the cook time they were like mush. So I suggest that if you do want the onions and peppers you add them towards the end of the cook time.
