Bones of the Dead

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I followed the recipe exactly but these just did not work out for me. I expected these to be light and melt on the tongue but they were the total opposite. They were so heavy, and the taste not something that I found appealing at all.

Grilled Mediterranean Greek Pizza with Sundried Tomato Chicken Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
I made my own pizza base. I am a huge feta fan and loved the combination of feta and oregano. The sausage tasted a little rubbery for my taste, next time I will slice the sausage into small cubes.

Better than Sex Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
Easy cookie to make, liked the consistency although I felt like they were missing a little something. The taste was just a little on the bland side. The look and presentation was good, I did not find they were too flat like other reviewers had mentioned. I also froze individual dough balls to use at a later date.

Apple Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
I just loved the taste of these muffins, although for some reason they just flopped in the oven. They stayed flat and spread over the pan rather than rise. I will try and bake these again, hopefully the next time they will rise correctly. I love the crisp topping and just the right about of apple. I followed the recipe exactly.

Cappuccino Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
I love these muffins, especially the crunchy topping. I added 1/4 cup of oil and I think they still need a little something else to make them a little more moist, but even so these are a good tasting muffin with your the right combination of both chocolate and coffee. I baked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
My family loved this recipe. I was a little concerned as I have never even tried root beer, so had no idea how it was going to work in a recipe. But this really was so good, I will certainly be making this recipe again.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
I was trying to find a recipe for the BLT salad available at my local deli. This recipe although not the exact same is pretty similar. I did add cooked pasta in place of the croutons and also some sliced cooked eggs. The dressing was ok but I think needs a little tweaking. Thank you for sharing.

Hearty Pasta Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
I just love this soup, especially the fact its made in the slow cooker. I used the Jimmy Dean sausage crumbles, so I did not have to waste time cooking sausage. I used 8 cups of beef broth and for the tomatoes used 1 large can of crushed tomatoes, I small can of chopped italian tomatoes and the 15 ounce can of tomato sauce. I did not use zucchini but used a mix of carrots, green pepper, mushrooms onions and celery. Followed the directions as instructed, this really did produce a good hearty soup. I will certainly be making this recipe again.

Raisin-Spice Snack Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
I did make a few changes to this cake, I used a butter cake mix (all that I had in the pantry), used apple sauce in place of the oil and upped the cinnamon and nutmeg to 1 teaspoon (just because I find cloves to be much more overpowering). I baked in a large loaf pan so cook time was 60 minutes (standard for this type of pan). Used a few of the chopped pecans as a sprinkle at the bottom of the pan and mixed the rest into the batter. I do like the taste of this case (although it is rather on the sweet side) my only negative is I don't like how it cuts. Its breaking in the middle, so not something I would feel happy to serve to guests. Not sure if this is something to do with my tweaks or the original recipe.

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
SLOW COOKER METHOD ~ I decided to make this in the slow cooker. The vegetables (Celery, Onion, Carrots and Haricot Verts as well as the 1/2 apple) Sauteed these for about 10 minutes with garlic, thyme, curry powder and black pepper until just softened (I used a little olive oil spray not the butter like the recipe stated), then added the rice to the pan to help to brown this a little and allow it to soak up more flavoring. Added the vegetables/rice to the slow cooker along with 5 chicken breasts and 6 cups of chicken stock. I DID NOT use the heavy cream or the flour. Cooked on slow for 7 hours. This really was a delicious and very easy soup, next time I think I will add just slightly more curry powder (or maybe a hot curry powder) and a little fresh cilantro.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
I'm going to give these a 4* They are nice muffins, light lemon flavor but I am concerned with the cook time, check your muffins after 15 minutes. My muffins were in for 20 minutes and there were overcooked!

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Followed the recipe exactly never changed a thing. These are a good muffin, so soft and moist. I did use frozen blueberries. Certainly a recipe to make again.

Chicken in Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I followed this recipe exactly and despite what some of the other review say this did make a thick creamy sauce. But I was not impressed with the over all taste. The chicken was very dry (even though I used my usual organic chicken) and something about the flavoring just did not seem to work well together. I served with gnocchi. I will not be using this recipe again.

Lemon Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
OMG ~ This was a gorgeous loaf, I followed the recipe exactly (used margarine). I did double the lemon juice and also 2 teaspoons of lemon extract. The cake was the perfect combination of lemon and coconut, also loved just how moist this loaf was. Will certainly be making this recipe again.

Cherry Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
Cherry and Almond is always the perfect combination for me! I did use 1/2 oil and 1/2 apple sauce and topped off with a little more of the chopped almond/pecan nuts. These were a nice muffin, although next time I will double the almond extract. Please watch the bake time after only 18 minutes my muffins were very well done, after the full bake time they would have been burnt. Thank you for the recipe CC, pretty sure I will be baking these again.

Raspberry Lemon Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
Following some of the other reviews I decided to tweak this recipe a little to try and make it a little sweeter and more of a lemon flavour. I only had frozen raspberries so used those. I did use 3/4 cup of sugar and added 2 teaspoons of lemon extract, used vanilla yogurt. Even using the extra sugar I still found this was not sweet enough. To me this was just an average loaf recipe, nothing that got me really excited.

Minister's Delight

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I followed the recipe exactly making the apple version. No one in my family cared for it. We did not like the consistency at all, good quality ice cream made it edible, but only just. I never like leaving such a negative review but just can't find anything positive to say about this dessert.

Butterscotch Spice Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I did make a few changes to this recipe as I was concerned that lots of the other reviews said it tastes mostly like spice cake and not enough butterscotch. I followed the recipe and ingredients as listed although I used homemade applesauce in place of the oil. Also added a few drops of Butter Vanilla Baking Emulsion (this is a Natural flavoring from Lorann Professional Kitchen) as well as 1 cup of butterscotch chips.
