Simple and easy to make, rice dish. Followed the recipe exactly although it did take an extra 10 minutes to get the rice cooked.

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
I love recipes that are simple to throw together for those busy days when we don't have forever to spend in the kitchen. I followed this recipe exactly, did not read any reviews. It really was simple to make but I found the overall taste as written to be pretty bland. It needs something to give it a kick, I used medium salsa, maybe hot would have been better and perhaps a few Jalapenos.

Oh I just loved this recipe, so very easy. But the taste and presentation was just like a restaurant side. Thank you so much for sharing.

Mom's Fabulous Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly, I doubled all the ingredients and made one pie for dinner, and two for the freezer. (will top with the biscuits before popping in to the oven). Great basic pie. UPDATE ~ I used the mini biscuits and oh so much better. They cook perfectly throughout, not doughy on the bottom like the regular size.

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
I made this soup in the crock pot. I used mushrooms, carrots, celery, onion and green beans. I browned the beef first of all before putting all the ingredients into the crock pot on low for 8 hours. Unfortunately even after that time the vegetables were still hard, nice time I may partially cook the vegetables first of cook. I left this cooking overnight and we had it for lunch the next day. The actual taste was a little on the bland side, good thick soup but just needs a little something else to kick it up a little!

Famous No Coffee Pumpkin Latte

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
Great recipe. I am not a big coffee drinker so this is the perfect way to feed my Pumpkin latte addiction without having to have coffee. I did add a small amount of nutmeg. The taste was totally delicious. I topped with whipped cream and toffee sauce YUM!!!

Great little mix ~ love it when I can make my own spice mixes rather than buying them from the stores. Thank you for sharing Jacquie.

Caramel Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
While this cake is alright its not outstanding. I followed the recipe exactly and my cake was starting to burn on the edges after just 60 minutes, so be careful of the cooking time! If it was not for the glaze the actual cake would have been rather bland. Needs a little something to give it that wow factor. Glad I made this recipe but for me who loves cakes, this is not a keeper!

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
Oh my goodness ~ just so delicious. Even the aroma coming from the oven was heavenly! I did change a couple of ingredients. I used apple sauce in place of the oil and used Baileys coffee cream (the one you buy from the grocery store refrigerator) in place of the baileys irish cream. The cake was so moist and had such a decadent taste. I will certainly be baking this cake again!

Baked Basil Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
Easy fries, I did have to bake for an additional 15 minutes to get them to crisp. Not a bad taste, maybe need a little salt adding to the mix.

Followed recipe exactly, very easy and quick quiche. The finished quiche is basic, bland and rather dense. Good quick recipe but not something I will be making again.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
Excellent soup, but following other reviews I did change it a little bit!!! I used Angus Beef already cubed in place of the chuck. I did not use the frozen vegetables, but used 3 small potatoes cubed with the skins on, 3 small parsnips chopped, handful green beans chopped, handful of peas, 1 medium onion, 3 stalks celery, and 3 carrots. I sauted the vegetables for about 5 minutes before throwing all ingredients (apart from the barley) into the crock pot. During the last hour, I added the barley. Cooked for 8 hours in total. This was so delicious, my family loved it!

Brie’s Holiday Cranberry and Coconut Dog Treats

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
These dog biscuits require the use of Wheat flour which some dogs are sensitive to, if so its so easy to modify this recipe, simply substitute one cup of wheat flour for 1-1/4 cup of rye or oat flour or ¾ cup, rice, barley or potato flour.

Chicken and Chorizo Paella

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
So easy and very versatile, I do sometimes change the ingredients to match what's in my pantry. I often use green beans or mushrooms. Tried with various types of diced tomatoes but my favorite is the fire roasted.

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly, I am only rating this as a 4* as its ok, just not great. Too watery, next time I will reduce the amount of stock and also the taste was rather bland. I guess it needs a little something to spice it up.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I love chicken and love pasta, so this seemed like the perfect recipe to me. Very easy to make, but in all honestly even with much salt and pepper I found it very bland. I used my own basil from the garden. Not sure if I will make this again, if I do it will be with some changed to enhance the flavors...
