Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
Not bad. I didn't have the chili sauce, so I just used some hot sauce. I didn't have green onions either, but I wish I did. It would have been the perfect finishing touch. Quick and easy, thanks!

Chicago-Style Franks and Macaroni

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
As a native Chicagoan, I am always eager to try out recipes that spotlight the city's signature fare. And this was actually pretty good! I had to make a few adjustments, however. I used celery salt in place of the seed (didn't have any), and the sport peppers. Normally they are a staple in my house, but we were completely out. And our oven hasn't worked in quite a while, so I decided to nuke everything for 2 minutes. It was quite delicious, better than I expected. Thanks for the recipe!

Fried Garlic Pasta

Really good. I used rotini instead of angel hair, and omitted the cheese.

Hot Dog Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
I was a bit skeptical to try this out, but I had all the ingredients on hand, so I gave it a whirl. I also added garlic powder, a bit of oregano, and a dash of basil. Low and behold, this was pretty darn tasty! I especially love the soup base, yum. But I think green beans were the wrong veggie choice for this soup, and I love green beans. Thanks for the recipe, Nancy!

Pizza Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
This was good, and a great way to use up leftover pizza. I used red pepper flakes instead of black pepper, didn't use the salt, and added a bit of garlic powder. I agree that you probably don't need the Italian seasoning like the other reviewer said. Served with a side of green habanero sauce and mmmmmm, I'm in heaven. Thanks for the recipe!

Baked Chicken and Okra

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
This was okay. The texture was odd, and overall, I felt it was a little bland for my liking. I know you can doctor up the spices of any recipe, but I always follow the original as-is the first time through. I probably won't make this again, but it was nice to try something different.

Toasty Egg Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
This was pretty good. I used "Veggie Shreds" for the cheese, and omitted the butter to suit my dietary needs. It was an easy, quick dinner, perfect since I was not in the mood to really cook.

Mediterranean Rice Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
This was okay, nothing spectacular. I too left out the pickle since I did not have any on hand. It really must be the secret ingredient. I don't think I'll make this again, but it was fun to try something new.

Ramen Noodle Frittata

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
Tasty and different. It isnt very healthy, but being on vacation in Los Angeles, my cousin had everything on hand so I gave it a go. I added the cheese to the egg mixture, and sprinkled parmesan on top of the final product. I found this on the Dinner Spinner app. Thanks for the recipe!

Tomutter Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
Thought I'd give this a shot, since it was quick and simple. I used far less butter, but that's for health reasons. This is a good base recipe you can dress up to your liking. I would add minced garlic and red pepper flakes next time.

Puttanesca I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
This is delicious! I had to make a few alterations, though. I used diced canned tomatoes, and ketchup (don't laugh) for the tomato paste, omitted the anchovy filets (didn't have any on hand), and had to use black olives (all I had). I also added more garlic and red pepper flakes (personal pref). Very good, easy, and quick. I'll be making this again, thanks Pooche.

Chicken Gumbo Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Oh wow. This soup is fantastic! I swapped the salt and pepper for creole seasoning, and used instant white rice (it's what was on hand), and omitted the mushrooms. For the pasta, I used ditalini. I was in a hurry, so I threw everything into the pot, and cooked on medium-high for ninety minutes. Next time, I think I'd add some diced tomatoes and andouille sausage. It came out great. Thanks for the recipe, Phil!

Tomatatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I love tomatillos, but they made everything a liquidy mess in this recipe. The taste was okay, it just wasn't mashed potato consistency. More like a chunky stew type of result. It was fun to try something different, though.

Crab Omelet

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Okay, let me just state for the record that I can NOT make omelets. I have watched videos online, and put those methods into practice. It just doesn't work for me. With that being said, please forgive my photo of this recipe. As far as the recipe goes, it is delicious. I love the incorporation of the potatoes in this omelet. I used Egg Beaters (gotta watch that ol' cholesterol), and omitted the salt, peas, and raisins, as I don't care for any of those things. Oh, and I also used imitation crabmeat, as that's what I had on hand. Thanks for the recipe lola.

Very good. I did not add the bacon, instead I cooked the onion and chili peppers in olive oil. Just delicious, thanks Cyndilynn.

Sauerkraut Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
Oh my word. This is fabulous! It smells delicious cooking, and I couldn't wait to sample it. I let i simmer on low for about an hour on the stovetop, and it was perfect. I used pre-sliced fresh carrots instead of canned, and omitted the sausage. After digging out from the blizzard here in Chicago, this soup most certainly hit the spot. Thanks so much Terrilyn!

Hallelujah Noodles

What an interesting blend of flavors. I decreased the amount of soy sauce, and unfortunately had to use dried cilantro, as I didn't have fresh on hand. Quick and tasty, thanks Outliercook.
