Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
SO YUMMY! I made this tonight as a side for my KIDS and HUSBAND to go with chili. I HATE cornbread, or at least i DID until this recipe! OMG, SO GOOD! I will use this recipe often (fighting myself from making another batch RIGHT NOW)! The only thing i changed is that i used fat free milk with a touch of vinegar in place of the buttermilk, since i didnt have any on hand.

Yakisoba Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
While I did LOVE this recipe, I did make the following changes: 1 T red curry paste, 1 lb chicken breast, 1 carrot, 4 oz soba noodles, PLUS i added a large mushroom, and 1 bell pepper. It was SO amazing! -- But a bit on the spicy side for my taste. Could have been the sub for chile paste, Im not sure, but I couldnt find it at the store. Either way, I will make this again and again! My kids and husband -- all vegetable-hating individuals-- DEVOURED it and asked for more! I was for sure they would stick up there noses to it because of all the vegis but they didnt! Thanks for this tasty, and easy recipe! :D

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
This is SUCH a brilliant idea! The only thing I changed is the oil -- instead of coating the potatoes, I only spritzed the plate with olive oil and then put the potatoes on without any additional oil. Cooked and then sprinkled with a mix of salt and bbq seasoning...

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
OMG! I made this cake for a cakewalk, but wanted to try it out first. This is the most sinful piece of heaven I have ever tasted!!!! I used mini chocolate chips and apple sauce in place of the oil, and light sour cream (hey I had to make it as healthy as possible!!! lol) and it was still spectacular! Definitely will make this again!!!

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I'll start by saying that I used broccoli instead of cauliflower and that my kids and I never liked either vegis before. This is how I steamed my broccoli: I placed about 1 lb of flowerets in a gallon-sized freezer ziploc with 3 Tbsp chicken broth and sealed all except an inch and set it in my microwave for 3 minutes. When it was ready, I spooned the sauce over the broccoli and placed it back in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Took it out and stirred. It was marvelous! Oh... and I also used I can't believe it's not butter! light, and best foods reduced fat mayo as substitute

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
An absolute hit! My husband requested baked beans for dinner, and I lost my grandma's recipe. This was the closest resemblence to it, so decided to give it a try. I halved the recipe, and used dry small red beans and dry pinto beans that I had cooked the day before. My children (which are the absolute most picky eaters in the universe!) asked if they could have seconds!!! That is unheard of with my kids! My husband also loved them! I will DEFINITELY be making these again!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Best Stovetop BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This was AMAZING! I quadrupled the marinade as well as adding a 1/4c molasses. I didn't have A1 either, so I used 1/2 c bbq sauce and 1/4 vineagar instead. I marinated this for 18 hours in a ziploc bag, and then cooked them on the stovetop ofr approx 2 hours. They literally fell of the bone! My hubby insisted they were better than any restaurant ribs he's ever had!

Cherry Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
The filling for this pie was absolutely heavenly! I used strawberry filling instead of cherry because its what my hubby prefers. I would have given it a 5 star rating except I wasnt too thrilled about the crust. I think next time I will stick with a graham cracker crust. Definately simple though, and delicious!

I followed this recipe exactly, and in my opinion, it was a little strong on the herbs that were added, however, I gave it a 5 star because my kids LOVED IT! i've been looking for a good cheesy bread recipe, one that they adore, and this is it! I will definately be making this again, maybe just add a little less herbs.... !!!!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
I cut up the chicken and placed it in an oven bag after seasoning. I let it set in the refrigerator for about 3 1/2 hrs. It had plenty of flavor, but just not exactly what I was hoping for. I much prefered the recipe that called for salt and paprika only... too me it tasted much better than this recipe. I think it had WAY too many flavors and actually were quite overbearing.

Cream Cheese Ranch Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
I made this recipe exactly, except i scaled it down to only 2 servings. It was VERY bland, and almost BITTER??? I think it was because of the ranch seasoning, but I added a couple shakes of seasoning salt and it made it edible enough to finish.

Brownie Bottom Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This cheesecake was AMAZING!!!!!!! My husband doesnt EVER much care for cheesecake OR brownies, but I cut this cake it 8 pieces, and he ate ALL of his piece, and then took some of mine!!!! I only had 2 boxes of cream cheese, so I substituted the last box for 8 oz of ricotta. Also I used fat free egg substitute instead of eggs, and I didnt have unsweetened chocolate, so I used Ghirardelli's Gourmet 72% Extra Bittersweet Chocolate. It was so Fantastic!!!! REALLY!!! I followed another users idea, and only cooked it for 45 mins, and then let it set in the oven for the remainder of the time. I also made a caramel sauce and drizzled it on top when I served it, alongside nonfat chocolate frozen yogurt! Superbly DIVINE!!!

I wasnt too impressed with this recipe. It was very creamy, which was a plus, but the flavor was not so great, pretty bland. i tried adding romano to help it out; nothing. i added more pepper; nothing. it was barely edible, but i did, as im trying not to waste food.

I had always used parmesan before, and just recently decided to buy romano. This is the first recipe i have used it in, and WOW! YUMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
THIS CHILI IS AMAZING! My husband and I don't like onions or peppers, so i just used onion powder and omitted the peppers. I also added a little more chili powder than called for, as well as pepper, and used dry pinto and red beans instead of canned. I tried one other recipe from this site before, and it was VERY dull, but this recipe was very flavorful. I made bread bowls and served in in those, HUGE HIT!

This was a marvelous recipe!!! I made it for a bake sale fundraiser, and everyone wanted to know how to make it, and they all commented on the fact it tasted like Andes Mints...:D I made two batches, the first I did as directed, and the second I actually decided to sprinkle chopped up pieces of Andes, it was FANTASTIC!!!
