About this Cook
I started cooking when I was a litle girl, but didn't really get into it until after I was married. Now it occupies my mind for a few hours every day! I like to try new things, get creative and have fun with my food!
My favorite things to cook
Personally I LOVE spicy food. But, with a toddler and low-tolerant husband I have to keep the heat on the menu to a minimum. Thankfully, I can whip up some great recipes that are usually spicy and tame them without sacrificing the signature flavor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All the women in my family are phenomenal cooks, so when we all get together to make a meal it's memorable.
My cooking triumphs
Thankgiving 2010. It was my first Thanksgiving being in-charge of all the main dishes, including the turkey. I tried to break away from a traditional turkey and made a rosemary and apple stuffed turkey. I still hear about how great it was!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make Indian food in 2007. Not only did the dish end up being undercooked, but the flavors did NOT mesh well at all. Sometimes you pay the price for being inventive.

Marinated Scallops Wrapped in Bacon
This is soooo delicious!!! I used turkey bacon in place of regular and just added olive oil, lemon and black pepper.

Ranch Burgers
This is one of the few things my husband cooks and it's because it's so easy and so flavorful! We sometimes use ground turkey instead of ground beef and it turns out just as fabulous! Oh yeah, and he dumps the entire bottle of Hormel Real Bacon Bits into the mix!

Pita Chips
Really easy and very yummy! If you want your chips to be more crispy, just split the pita and then cut the triangles from those two pieces. Awesome with Hummus III recipe!!
