Back in 2001, I found a recipe for taco seasoning mix in a book of master mixes. Prior to that, I had always used envelopes of taco seasoning that you get at the grocery store, but all that changed after making my own. I haven't bought a taco seasoning packet since.  There's nothing… MORE

I love potato salad. It's extremely versatile and you can dress it up or down as much as you like. Several years ago I was given a book called Peace, Love, & Barbecue: Recipes, Secrets, Tall Tales, and Outright Lies from the Legends of Barbecue by Mike (and Amy) Mills. Mike Mills owns… MORE

Last summer was the first time I made pizza on the grill. I watched several You Tube videos and read a few websites before starting. Making pizza on the grill reminds me of stir frying in that you should have all your ingredients at the ready, because like stir frying, the actual cooking part… MORE

With Memorial Day around the corner, I thought it fitting to post a fabulous recipe for the grill. I love chicken. If I could get my family to eat it every day, we would! Boneless chicken breasts are my all time favorite, and brining or marinating definitely kicks things up a notch. This… MORE

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially cookies and cakes. :) I love cooking too, but I like to experiment, which can occasionally mean take out! ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in the convenience food era. My parents were divorced and I was a latch key kid. There weren't a whole lot of home cooked meals in my childhood, but lots of packaged and frozen goods. I try to make dinner every night for my family, though sometimes it's take out due to sports activities, etc. I'm envious of those that have their grandmother's recipes, I don't have anything like that.
My cooking triumphs
i've created a few recipes of my own, one I even won a contest for :) I love experimenting and finding new ways to combine flavors. I feel triumphant every time I bring something to my neighbors, they always give me rave reviews!
My cooking tragedies
I try to prepare whatever I can early in the day, so that the hectic afternoon is less... well, hectic! I tend to be pretty frugal, so I'm always pantry diving. I also menu plan every week, it saves me from A) running to the store in the middle of the week and B) getting take out.
