This is a recipe I developed on my own. I love stir fry and have quite a few recipes to build from. I love how versatile stir fry is in that you can substitute the meat and veggies to your liking. The grocery store had buy one get one free on their marinated pork tenderloin, so this recipe w MORE

Major yum! I was at the store the other day and they had bags of Baker's chocolate chunks on clearance as a discontinued item. So I bought a bunch and made these peanut butter chocolate chunk bars. These were great warm but even better at room temperature. You can certainly use regular choc MORE

These are an adaptation of the play dough cookies found here on All Recipes. I thought it would be fun to make St. Patrick's Day cookies using this same dough. I love all the colors of the rainbow in these, they are so bright and vibrant! I give a full tutorial on my blog, and even a video t MORE

Oh my! This has to be one of my favorite cakes to date. This uses a boxed white cake mix as the base, but I do want to try it again with a from scratch white cake recipe. I used my homemade cherry pie filling in this, but you can use any canned cherry pie filling. The cherry and almond flavor MORE

Have you ever made Oreo truffles? They are probably one of the easiest candies in the world. Just use a food processor to turn a package of Oreos into crumbs, then add in an 8 oz package of cream cheese. Roll them into balls, chill, then did in melted chocolate. Done! :) And so yummy! You ca MORE

I've seen these cookies all over the internet. I used the recipe on All Recipes here. What a great dough! Rolls really nice, not sticky at all, even after adding the paste food coloring. I shaped mine into hearts by pinching the dough toward the lollipop stick then create an indent at the MORE

Yesterday I made this recipe for Cranberry Kuchen. This was definitely something different than I have made before. It was a yeast dough, but there's no kneading involved. That yeast dough is sandwiched between two layers of an egg mixture, then sprinkled with a crumb topping. The entire thi MORE

We have been battling the stomach flu here for almost two weeks. So I haven't really been able to bake anything for fear of passing on the germs. I really needed to get into the kitchen and create something, and lately on my craft blog I've been making all sorts of Santa's Belly crafts, so MORE

Wow, it's been since October since I posted here! I've become so busy with work that this blog has fallen by the wayside. I've added a reminder on my calendar to try and get here more often!  These white chocolate pumpkin blondies are amazing. They are perfect for the holidays an MORE

I made these yesterday, and they were gone yesterday! If you don't decorate sweet treats much, don't be intimidated. I used Betty Crocker royal icing in a squeeze package, so awesome! Can you guess what the monster's eyes and polka dots are made of? So fun, you should try them!  Ge MORE

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially cookies and cakes. :) I love cooking too, but I like to experiment, which can occasionally mean take out! ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in the convenience food era. My parents were divorced and I was a latch key kid. There weren't a whole lot of home cooked meals in my childhood, but lots of packaged and frozen goods. I try to make dinner every night for my family, though sometimes it's take out due to sports activities, etc. I'm envious of those that have their grandmother's recipes, I don't have anything like that.
My cooking triumphs
i've created a few recipes of my own, one I even won a contest for :) I love experimenting and finding new ways to combine flavors. I feel triumphant every time I bring something to my neighbors, they always give me rave reviews!
My cooking tragedies
I try to prepare whatever I can early in the day, so that the hectic afternoon is less... well, hectic! I tend to be pretty frugal, so I'm always pantry diving. I also menu plan every week, it saves me from A) running to the store in the middle of the week and B) getting take out.
