MORE
I live in Seattle, work at Allrecipes.com - love the rain & the city. Some of my loves in life: my husband, my dog, family, friends, Washington State University, appetizers, wine, wine events, wine shops, wine bars, martinis, martini bars, happy hours, meeting new people, Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, a great deal on anything (esp wine), trying new things - why not, if it doesn't turn out that great, you don't have to do it again. A new love is Australia! My husband is Australian and we recently got to spend some time in S. Australia-it was AMAZING!
My favorite things to cook
APPETIZERS! If I could only have one "genre" of food for the rest of my life, it would be appetizers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
During the winter holidays, my sister and I try to get together to bake as many cookies as possible - all different kinds, some successful and some not so much. We always say we're going to give them as gifts but we usually finish them by the time that idea comes around. For my birthday, my mom always tries to make seaweed soup - a tradition in Korea. It's delish and I have yet to perfect the recipe so I always end up going to see my parents around my birthday so she'll make it.
My cooking triumphs
I don't really have one in particular. Since I'm obsessed w/appetizers, I always love to watch the faces of those eating them. When they get that big smile or their eyes close and they do the ...mmmmm... I know it was good (I will eat anything so I'm not the best judge of good food).
My cooking tragedies
I was on Weight Watchers for a while (I love that site/lifestyle-completely helped me out!) and tried to make a "light mac & cheese" recipes (not from WW), and it was the worst thing I've ever had. Not sure if it's because I didn't really know how to make a real mac & cheese dish or that mac & cheese should NEVER be light! I'm going to go w/the second theory.
