Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
TRIPLING THE RECIPE: Works great. I follow the recipe exactly - just triple it. 3X the recipe makes 42 standard muffins. (Use 1 teaspoon of crumb sprinke for each muffin - sometimes it's hard to gauge this, but 1 tsp. comes out perfectly). These muffins are DELICIOUS! I've made many times. My family loves them. They freeze well too.

Pig Pickin' Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
Followed recipe exactly, but doubled it. Used 3 10" cake pans (instead of slicing layers) to create a more dramatic effect. Extra batter I put into cupcakes. Thank you!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
ABSOLUTELY delicious - and so easy to prepare! This recipe is a keeper. I doubled the meat (as others suggested) and changed the recipe as per "JILLEYBEAN'S" suggestions. Thanks for a great recipe - Yum!

Lemon-Lime Soda Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
I doubled the recipe to fit into my jello mold. Made no changes to the recipe. As others have mentioned, the gelatin was soft (even after 11 hours in the refrigerator). No one in my family liked the taste. We ended up throwing out the uneaten portion. Sorry!

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I've made this cake several times. Be sure that you use a big enough bunt pan (fill the bundt pan leaving at least 2" from the top of the pan - otherwise the cake will overflow). I've started using mini chocolate chips (vs. the regular sized ones)because they melt completely. Sometimes the regular size chips don't melt completely - nothing wrong with this (still is delicious), but I prefer them to be melted. I do not make any changes to this recipe. I use the Whipped cream cream cheese icing found at Allrecipes.com and shave chocolate on top at the end. This is a fabulous chocolate cake recipe - and simple to make! Enjoy!

Awesome Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I made this soup for our Thanksgiving "light" lunch, since we were all going to my mom's for the big turkey dinner later in the day. This is THE BEST chicken noodle soup recipe I've tried. Instead of using chicken boullion as the soup base as I normally do, I used a "specialty" chicken soup base I found next to the boullion at our grocery store. I also found homemade noodles in the pasta section that I used. I did not use the lemongrass. I made no changes to the recipe - followed it exactly. It was delicous - my entire family "gobbled" it up! Great recipe!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
I've made this recipe many times - it is awesome with no changes. However, using frozen vegies work really well (I substitue 2 cups frozen vegies for the carrots and peas). Still use fresh celery. Delicious!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
Made this last night and my entire family loved it! I have had a family lasagna recipe that was handed down to me that we all thought was the best - this was even better! The only thing I changed was I used only 15oz. Ricotta cheese because it is the size the manufacturer uses and added about 5oz. of cottage cheese with the egg. It was outstanding. Thank you for the recipe - I'd give it ********** if I could!

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
This recipe was delicious. Followed the directions as stated EXCEPT did not sift the flour with the sugar (couldn't find my sifter and was in a hurry). It was perfect! Topped with strawberries and homemade whipped cream... Yummy summer treat. Thanks for the recipe - a keeper! UPDATE 8/28/10: Have made this recipe a gazillion times. Follow the recipe exactly (and make sure no yolks sneak into the whites when you are cracking them). Now my 10 year old son can make it (almost on his own). Tonight he made homemade whipping cream along with sliced fresh strawberries to go on top - Yum. We love this recipe!

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
Delicious! My kids loved it. I added the brown sugar in with the white sugar at the beginning. Also added 1 small can (drained) peaches that I cut up in chunks (another subscriber suggested this). Served with 1/2 and 1/2 and extra raisins on the side. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2006
Very, very good. I added some carrots (in with the pasta while it was cooking) and about a cup of frozen peas. I don't like mushrooms, so I used 2 cans of cream of chicken. I will definitely make this again - my kids gobbled it up!

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

Very good, but pancakes are dense... My kids and family like a lighter pancake. Made these pancakes with the "Cinnamon Cream Syrup" as suggested (which was delicious).

Cinnamon Cream Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2006
Absolutely delicious! I used it as suggested with Veronica's Apple Pancakes. I did not have the maple flavoring (thought I had it, but couldn't find it) so I used pure vanilla extract - delicious. I will use this recipe for banana crepes and french toast too. Thank you for sharing this recipe - a real keeper.

Maria's Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2006
Absolutely delicious. Added a teaspoon of cornstarch to thicken. Used red, green and yellow peppers. Served over rice, but egg noodles would be good too. A "keeper" for our family recipe file! ****Update**** My family loves this recipe. I do use about 2 teaspoons of corn starch to thicken the sauce. I don't make it with peppers anymore. I switched to broccoli and sprinkle sesame seeds on top - thanks to the suggestions of others! Quick and easy recipe!

Chicken or Turkey Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
My family loves this recipe. I substituted cheddar for the American cheese, and then sprinkled a combination of cheddar and parmesan cheese on the top. Also, I added some green pepper too - makes it more festive for Christmas when you have both red and green pepper.

Cindy's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
I've made this pie for the past several years, and have already rated it. Made it again for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. This pie is THE BEST pumpkin pie recipe ever. My family and friends RAVE about it every year. For the ice cream, I use Breyers vanilla bean. I always use canned pumpkin. The cooking time far exceeds the amount of time given on this recipe - AND the pie always inflates a lot higher in the oven, but settles back down once it cools. Just wanted to mention these things in case anyone is making this recipe for the first time. This recipe is a family treasure!
