Ok, quick foodie confessional….Sometimes I get too excited about food, and I blurt out my excitement like I have food triggered Tourette’s syndrome.  My best friend always bumps me with a disapproving “ANGEL!!!??!!” whisper as if to say “Omg, I can’t believe you just said that out loud”.I’m… MORE

About this Cook
Born in Mexico...raised a California girl, I'm always trying to find my roots with my cooking. I have a big family with my mom as matriarch and master cook. So I have some big shoes to fill.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking food that my mom always made when we were younger. She doesn't really have any recipes, so it's a challenge. Every time she cooks, it's a unique experience since variations on ingredients are never the same. I also love Mexican food El Paso style. I would like to dabble more in Italian and Filipino dishes. My all time fav is BBQ and down home Southern comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Mexican Family. Family gatherings center around the kitchen and dinning areas. I love having family around the kitchen cooking, sitting around the dinner table talking, laughing, joking, drinking and eating.
My cooking triumphs
Mastered flour tortillas in 2013!!!
My cooking tragedies
That I mastered flour tortillas in 2013...I think I gained 5 lbs in one week.

Tuscan Sausage and Chard Soup
I loved this as a base recipe and was very happy. Had some items I needed to use and added as follows: stewed tomatoes, garlic powder instead of salt, onion, celery, carrots, and some salsa Verde I made fresh, and I always put a bay leaf in my soups. Now all we need is the rain to show up to make this a true winter meal.

German Leek and Potato Soup
I used a ham hock instead of a ham bone. And for my salt, all I had was sea salt. Made this for an Oktoberfest Party and it was a big hit. I left some potato chunks in for texture. I was handing out this recipe after the party. I recommend for a big party to just a cozy evening home with the family.

Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze
Couldn't stop tasting sauce before I put on the salmon. So easy and few ingredients, I was a little skeptical, but it was delicious. I also added a little honey, but not much.
