Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2003
This recipe was very good! I had my doubts because meat is not my food of choice, but this was excellent. Worth the time to make it!!

Polenta

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
Very easy, but I only had to cook it for about 5 minutes until it was THICK. I used Quaker Yellow Cornmeal (Enriched and Degerminated)- I wonder if this is "quick cooking" polenta? Either way, it turned out good- I'm excited to fry some tomorrow!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
These were very easy to make, and were fairly comparable to the kind you can buy frozen. I added an extra egg as suggested by others, and then an extra 1/4 c. breadcrumbs because it was a little runny. Also, this made 8 patties for me. One of my neighbors liked this better than the storebought ones! Thanks!

Black Bean Hummus

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
I agree that it is a bit like bean dip, but I like the flavor! It was fun to try out a different hummus version.

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
Very good! I like this method of making green beans. I would suggest a lower "medium high" for the heat, though. **EDIT** I love this way of making green beans so much now that I hardly ever make them any other way. WOW!

Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
This recipe lived up to its name- super easy. This was a good meal for a busy day. I also used the onion soup mix, but then with the 2 soups it's pretty salty (I added some peas to cut down the saltiness a little, and ate with rice). Something else that I found is that you can put frozen chicken straight into this recipe (without thawing), just add a little extra cooking time.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2007
They were alright, but a little too salty. Also, they seemed to be missing something that I'm used to in deviled eggs- maybe relish? Still good, just not the best.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
This was definitely good, but I guess I had my expectations very high- it was pretty much normal (but good!) lasagna. I am going to keep tweaking this recipe and look for more. ***EDIT*** You really need to let this sit in the fridge for one day- that is what makes the five star difference! It is absolutely wonderful. This will be my "go to" lasagna recipe. TRY IT!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
Very good chocolate chip cookies. Both chewy and crisp, not greasy. The dough is delicious as well. Made larger cookies to make cookie ice cream sandwiches, which required a little longer baking time, but the cookies were very adaptable.

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
Pretty good, I probably wouldn't make it again though- nothing spectacular. Good for a night where you don't have time to cook.

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
I really like this recipe- the seasonings are simple and just right. Also, before I tried this recipe I thought I hated squash! I make it the way another reviewer suggested, though, because it's easier. Cut in half, season, and bake for 45 min. Then eat- yum!!

Sauceless Garden Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Not so good. It was definitely edible, and I liked the idea, but something went wrong here- maybe it was the zucchini. Waaay too much liquid- we were pressing towels into it every time we cut a slice. I think if I felt like trying it again I would do without it.
