About this Cook
I am a Junior High student who wants to work with plants when he grows up. I take the culinary arts enrichment class at school with one of my favorite teachers:) I also work in our school garden, where we get many of our ingredients. Currently however, I have a dilemma: we have a HUGE excess of mint from the garden and we have idea what to do with it. Any recipe recommendations would be helpful! Yes, I did get the dehydrator and have so far dried mint and chives, which dried very well. I am glad to be here in the AllRecipes community! HerbGrowerNY
My favorite things to cook
As you can guess, I love herbs of all kinds! I love using them so much that I actually want a food dehydrator for my birthday;) Hopefully I can review it for everybody! The mint plants I currently grow are chocolate mint and lemon mint. I also grow German and Roman Chamomile, chives and strawberries. I am hoping to start an herb garden in pots next year with herbs like rosemary, lemon balm, lavender and curled parsley. I'm glad to be here on allrecipes and I hope I can learn from you guys and help you too. Nice to meet you! HerbGrowerNY
My cooking tragedies
One time I accidentally put some aluminum foil in the microwave. It was not pretty! It looked like a roman candle went off inside the microwave and there are still scorch marks in the microwave to this day. No, do NOT do it! At least I always put the top on the blender...

Syracuse Salt Potatoes
These are the best salt potatoes EVER! I absolutely love the recipe and will make it again for sure. To me, salt potatoes are potatoes done right. I stuck to the recipe almost to the letter, but used 4 servings instead. I had to guess a little with the salt and potatoes, but other than that I really didn't change the recipe. I added in herbs from my garden that I had dried in my dehydrator while boiling. I also lightly put in some Table Blend Style Mrs. Dash, my favorite seasoning mix. The result was wonderful! Not only did I have fun making it, the dish was delicious! I could not put it down! If you are anyone who likes potatoes, give this recipe a try!

Granana Smoothie
This recipe is great, quick and easy! I just got my braces on and needed something to numb my mouth. After making the horrible discovery that we didn't have any ice cream for milkshakes, I hit Allrecipes for smoothies. This was perfect because it looked nice and required no ice cream. All ingredients needed were on hand. After reading reviews, I changed a few things: 2 smaller apples for kids - "Gala Gems" 3 ice cubes instead of two a little bit of vanilla yogurt 1% milk Other than that, I followed the instructions. The result? A wonderful smoothie! It was gulped up by my mom, me and my brother. Even my brother liked it and that means something! I will definetely make it again!
