Hey all, especially Patty. I've been meaning to write this and get your feedback but I thought I could solve it on my own.
Mine is a strange story. I got the amounts (not proportions) wrong as I was using a measuring cup that was = 2.5 cups and not 1 cup.
It turned out perfect but I had double the crust -no biggie. The filling was white and translucent and oozing. The icing sugar topping didn't melt and the crust was crispy and biscuit-like. All in all, a wonderful 1st try.
My 2nd attempt was horrible and the filling came out too eggy even though I added only 1 more egg.
I then realised that I could get the measurements in metric (I'm stupid like that) but I tried to proceed with what I thought was my wrong measurements, in metric this time and the next 3 or 4 attempts came up bad, especially the crust.
I went back to Patty's original recipe in metric and it turned out good except that the crust wasn't crispy around the edges and the filling wasn't oozy and was yellow.
My question is this, how do I get the same results as my 1st time? I really loved it then! Somehow, the filling wasn't yellow and the consistency was fantastic (though a little too sweet).
I've done this 8 times now and I can't get it back even by following the recipe to the letter! I especially need to get the crust crispy all round again!
