Granny's Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
Followed the recipe, didn't add tomatoes because I don't like tomatoes, but added some veggies that I had for leftovers in it too. Green beans and lima beans were an excellent addition. I started adding brown rice flour in slowly to get the consistency I wanted. I would suggest that with any flour. Served with bread and it made a wonderful dinner and great comfort food.

Black Bean Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
I followed the recipe exactly and nobody in my house knew that they were made with black beans. It had an excellent cake like texture and tasted just like a brownie. Still has carbs but the high fiber is there. Will def. make again.

Creamed Onions and Sage

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
You must like sage in order to like this recipe. And you must be patient to peel all those onions. Otherwise an easy recipe and a special treat. Would make again.

French Onion Dip From Scratch

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
Wow so easy and everyone at my Christmas family party loved it. I'm not sure I would go back to a package onion dip again. Fantastic, Def. make the day before for the flavors to mingle.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Followed this recipe exactly and took my time to mash all the way down. I prefer my applesauce this way and had many compliments at the Thanksgiving table.

Swedish Meatballs (Svenska Kottbullar)

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Very good. The boys in this household couldn't get enough. Had one teenager who even took them cold with his school lunch. Easy to put together and the gravy was easy too. Not too time consuming just a little but most great old fashion dishes are. Will make over and over.

World's Best Oreo® Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Finally made this delcious recipe. The white fudge tastes like the middle of an oreo and to have the oreo pieces on the top just adds to the wonderful taste. I used a medium high heat and when it came to boil the candy thermometer was at fudge setting at just over the 3 min. mark. Will def. make again.

New York Pushcart Onions (For Hot Dogs)

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2012
Recipe Group selection 11/3/12. My teens gave it a thumbs up, my husband did not. I would advise making the onions thinly sliced. They did take much longer to soften to the point where you could really bite through them. I used red peppers instead of green. If I was to do this again I would use slightly more ketchup and less chili powder. Not that there is alot to begin with but. My husband did not like the sauce. He said that if the onion were diced he might like it better. I am giving it a 5 because the recipe was followed and it was what it was supposed to be.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
Not sweet enough for me. Made plenty to frost a couple dozen cupcakes as it was fluffy and decorated nicely. Even my 12 yr said it didn't taste "that great" so I trust the kids opinion. I will stick to Grocery Store Frosting Recipe here on AR right now.

Sour Cream Pockets

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
This came out cute but they are very time consuming. The dough was sticky but once you pinched off some dough I very lightly put some flour on them to roll them out good. I had way more dough than apple pie filling so I made 2 big circles, filled and folded over and baked. The dough had a mild taste and browned up nice on parchment paper.

Hot German Potato Salad Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
Made for Recipe Group 10/13/12. I would suggest cooking the celery mixture a little longer on low. I did not like the little crunch while eating the finished product. It made for a lot of dirty dishes. This did have alot of flavor because of the sauce.

This was delicious. After looking at several other recipes I decided I would add red peppers. Baked up perfect and paired great with pork loin.

I used less pancake mix and more WW flour. The flavor of this was mild. I was hoping for more maple walnut goodiness. But the kids did not care they ate them all up!

Award Winning Chili Con Carne

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
Loved this extensive chili recipe. The creator really designed a chili that was wonderful tasting. Just the right amount of everything. I added some corn because I had leftover fresh off the cob I wanted to use up. The corn meal thickened it up to a consistency I was looking for this time in a chili. This is a keeper and a handmedowner.

Sweet Potato Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
Nice tasting chili. Easy to prepare. No substitutions or omissions. It is somewhat thin or has juice so if you like a thicker chili than I would suggest omitting water or have enough bread as a side. This def. needs the time to soften up the potatoes so plan ahead. If I have extra sw. potatoes around I would make this again.

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
Fantastic. I thought the 8" springform was perfect. Each step was easy and a perfect amount for a delightful fall treat. (Good for any time though) I added craisins which was nice. Came out of springform pan no problem after taking a plastic knife beforehand just in case. Never made a torte before and I will def. do this again.
