Creamy Asparagus and Peas Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2012
Basic side dish that didn't offer much of a blended taste of ingrediants. I used turkey bacon which at times I think helps some dishes in its own way but it didn't here. The parmesan gave it the most flavor, as I always add a tad more. I used frozen peas and did not blanch with the asparagus. I preferred doing each veggie on its own. Wont make again.

Baked Eggplant Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Who knew making such a dish could be so easy. And appreciated. Eggplant has a wonderful flavor. I too used my own sauce.

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Everyone who tried these and the cake I made too said they loved this. The almond extract kept bringing people back for seconds. Moist cake. I double the recipe to make a quarter sheet pan and there were no problems.

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2012
Mild soup with good flavor. Everything blended well and there wasn't one flavor that took over. I made my own broth and only added one can of cannellini. I thought there was plenty of beans. I added chicken pieces to take place of other can of beans for protein.

Spring Cleaning Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2012
I just happen to have a little of this and a little of that to clean out my pantry and make these. They were a little dry. And done at the 10 min. mark. Probably wont make again. Coming back to edit; they were not too bad after being frozen for 2 wks.

Romantic Lemon Cheesecake Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
I really enjoyed these. I thought they were light and tasted delectable. I tried as recipe calls and adding some zest as reviewer suggested. Adding zest changed the flavor only somewhat. Silver dollar size from googling is 1.75" or approx. a good teaspoon. I had griddle at 325 degrees and thought it was appropriate. I am going to make lots of these for Easter Sunrise Service Potluck Breakfast.

Cottage Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
I'm only reviewing this from the boys in this household because I do not enjoy meatloaf. They said it had good flavor and was moist. I did try one bit and agreed on the moistness. I once got advice from an old church member that said to never use lean ground beef for meatloaf so I do stick with a lower ratio ground beef.

Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
This was the best frosting EVER. I will forever use this sweet but not too sweet frosting. The 15 min. of mixing makes it so light. I piped on cupcakes and frosted another rect. cake and it was cooperative. And lasted because the frosting hardens but stays so soft and creamy on the inside. Amazing.

Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
I did it! I made something with yeast. Thank you recipe group for giving me the courage. After the initial 3 cups I added 2.5 cups more to make it pull away from the bowl. And of course more on kneading area as I went along. I would double the filling next time. I took the 4th log and made a mixture of brown sugar, butter, pecans, cinnamon and then sprinkled fresh frozen blueberries and rolled up into crescent shape. Just lovely. I also froze a baked one and froze a ring to rise and bake at another time.

Hot Dogs With The Works

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Nice change from the typically served dog. The kids said it was like a taco hot dog. Only mustard was added to mine. No need for anything else and nobody asked. I put everything together and placed in pan with foil over the top on low until everyone was done with homework and ready to eat.

Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2012
I doubled the recipe because my whole family loves horseradish sauce and I always increase the horseradish too. With or without the vinegar is fine. Same with the ground red pepper, not necessary. I have done both but guests usually prefer without red pepper.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Yummy. I left out the parsley because I had people who don't care for it. I added sweet italian sausage and got rave reviews for such an easy recipe. Fresh garlic is the way to go on this one.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
An old fashion cake that got better the 2nd day. I always highlight a recipe if it has a feature like NO EGGS for those times when it will come in handy. A denser cake but moist.

Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Perfectly Spicy if you like SPICY. Had that chili kind of taste to it. You can adjust the level of spice which is nice. I will grill it next time for more smokey flavor added. I also used the same spicy mix for the potatoes in the oven.

Granny's Spice Rub

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
I tripled the recipe because I had my own dried rosemary and sage to use up. I also added 2 TBSP of dried, chopped, lemon zest that I had on hand. Very versatile recipe. Not only can be used as a rub but I have added it to stuffing for chicken, and mushrooms. Sealed up good, can use over and over.

These were wonderful. Coating stayed on during cooking. Easy to bite through, didn't pull the whole onion out which would drive me crazy. Def. tasted like its name.

Chocolate Marshmallow Meltaways

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
Not a difficult recipe. Made much more than stated. I did take the advice of reviewer and slightly flatten the cookie before cooking. I didn't think the marshmallow was gooey enough for me. Cookie itself was tasty. **2nd photo/review= Poured chocolate over marshmallow and loved it so much more. Tasted like the store bought marshmallow cookies. AND both ways are better the second day.
