Cherry Poppyseed Twinks

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2003
Just made these yesterday...the texture is really nice, and I really like the poppyseeds too. I used redcurrant preserve, as that was what I had on hand. This was my first go at a thumbprintcookie, so I had a bit of trouble with indent/jam ratio. Some cookies had jam overload, and it sort of bubbled down one side. No problem, really, as I was decorating some other cookies with white chocolate glaze. Took out the whisk, and drizzled, criss-cross, over the top of the whole batch. Hid the flaws, and it looked great. Will definetley make these again!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2003
These are ok. I had to reduce the baking time by 5 minutes, and I did leave out the cherries, as I don't like them at all. I will try adding some flavouring, or skor bits. For me,they are a bit too plain otherwise.I don't think that they would turn out piped or put through a press---mine flattened to a very thin cookie while baking, so I don't think that they would hold a shape very well.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2003
Yummy and easy! Thank you to the reviewers: added a bit of salt to the crust, added zest to the filling (used 3 lemons, as mine weren't too juicy), and followed the suggestion of sprinkling fresh blueberries in/on the filling. They were an amazing hot weather desert. Perfect, because not only was it very hot, but we had to travel by car for an hour (no A/C in car!) to get to the party, and I was worried about baking something that would not travel well. These were perfect.Sifted some icing sugar overtop,...and ate lots! They have also kept well. Still OK, after two days in the fridge...

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2003
Easy to make. Not too sugary at all. A big hit even with folks who supposedly don't like cakes, cookies, etc. Well, they love these. Use 1/2 the salt. Find them a bit too salty with the full amount.Use all the sugar and chocolate. Everyone comments on the rich chocolate taste- without being too sweet! Baked them in a convection oven for 8-9 mins. at 180 C. Turned out perfectly. Thank you for the recipe!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2003
Much better than store-bought crusts! Followed suggestions and used olive oil and herbs. Prefer a thinner crust, so I only use 1/2 recipe for one yummy pizza. Will try freezing other half...it's so fast, that my boyfriend has a hard time believing it's made from scratch. Next step: get HIM to make it . Not much can go wrong, it's that easy! Dough handles nicely too.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
Have made this a few times now using all kinds of cheeses. Works well even with gorgonzola. Reheats really well! I add a bit of nutmeg & or cayenne pepper if I'm using a mild cheese. An excellent recipe- so easy, creamy & comfy!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
Agree with most! Yummy. Used white meat. Had to add more cornstarch to thicken sauce up a bit (very good idea to double recipe!). Had snow peas and rice with it, sprinkled sesame seeds on top! Very pretty, light and tasty! Thanks for the recipe!
