Waffles II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
These are so quick to whip up and they have a perfect crisp outer crust and fluffy inside. I have successfully added chocolate chips or blueberries to this recipe and they turned out great. Don't add too many blueberries and if you do make sure you cut down on flour a bit otherwise they turn out too wet.

Jumbo Fluffy Walnut Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
this is an awesome muffin recipe. it made 12 muffins in regular sized tins. I followed the recipe exactly (but diced the apples) and it was wonderful. the topping was crunchy and the amount of apples and nuts was perfect. next time i would add a tablespoon of chopped nuts to the topping for a bit of extra crunch.

Strawberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I used 2 blocks of cream cheese as others suggested. It tasted OK, not outstanding, and there were craters along the strawberry marble. I think I may have inserted the knife too deep when creating the swirls. 20 oz is way too much strawberry for this recipe. I would recommend cutting it down to perhaps 12 or 16 oz.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
This recipe is amazing. Everything is perfect except I omitted the pecans because I prefer a softer loaf without the crunchy bits. Presentation is great and taste is fantastic. I recommend greasing the pan with butter or shortening rather than pan spray. Don't forget to flour the pan too!

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
The texture and taste of this cake is simply excellent. However, for the filling, I added chopped nuts, 1/4 cup flour and 2 tbsp butter (cut in with pastry blender) so it is like a streusel rather than just cinnamon and sugar. This also added some crunch to the filling. I topped it with "Vanilla Glaze" from this site after it cooled completely. Delish!

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
Everyone who has tried this banana bread says it is the best they have ever had. I never have buttermilk so I make my own by souring the milk - adding vinegar, lemon juice or cream of tartar and letting it sit for about 15 minutes. The ratio is 3 tsp of acid to 1 cup of milk, or for this recipe, 2 tsp for 2/3 cup milk.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
this cookie tasted great but I found the batter to be slightly too moist. They spread out a little more than I would have liked in the oven making the cookie look a little odd looking. Perhaps I would cut down on the amount of milk next time so they are less moist. The peanut butter cups also melted quite a lot and lost their shape. I had to stick them in the refrigerator afterwards.

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
The hint of cinnamon was just perfect. Not overwhelming and not too subtle either. I used almonds instead of hazelnuts and it was great. These spread a lot on the pan (the first time they are in the oven) so make sure they are far enough apart. Also, after slicing them I had to bake them for an extra 10-15 minutes on top of what was required in the recipe.

Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
These muffins were moist but not sweet enough. Either the apples I used were really tart or I need to add more sugar next time. Great consistency though!

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
this turned out great. if you use a blender like i did, add a little cream to the mix to ease the blending. i used half & half cream instead of heavy cream because other reviewers said it was too thick. i covered it with foil until the last 5 minutes. *for 4 people, 1/2 the recipe is the perfect amount.

Simple Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
this was a great recipe, except i only used 1 pkg of spinach and it was plenty. i also added about 2 cups of mushrooms and cooked them in with the tomato sauce. i wasn't sure how much 8oz equaled, but in a 9x13" pan, 9 lasagna noodles fit just right. Unless you like your sauce really runny, don't add the extra 1.5 cups of water to the sauce. Even without the water it was quite watery. A little extra mozarella to sprinkle on the very top and it's perfect!

Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
just like the others, i added 2tbsp flour and 1 tsp nutmeg. the sugar mixture seemed like a lot when i poured it on the apples but it was perfect. so make sure you use all the sugar!!! i used the pie crust recipe off a crisco shortening box and it worked great. this was the best apple pie i've made.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2006
this recipe is great. just as other people did, i doubled the topping. I also found it a little sweet so next time I will cut down on the brown sugar and add sprinkle a little bit of lemon juice instead of the water.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
excellent! i did not end up using as much icing sugar. with all frosting recipes i usually don't measure out the frosting, instead just add it and see the consistency that i desire. taste was great.... not to sweet at all. i used it on carrot cake and cinnamon buns.

CARNATION® Famous Fudge

Reviewed: May 12, 2006
pretty good for being such an easy recipe. I will try white chocolate chips next time and maybe macadamia nuts instead of the walnuts. i used colored marshmallows and it didn't make a difference @ all.

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2006
it was a great cake. i decreased the sugar content by about half a cup. i used the "creamy chocolate frosting" recipe and that made up for the lack of sweetness. for a treat, heat a slice on high for 30-45 seconds and top with vanilla or chocolate ice cream. soooo good

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
i used milk instead of evaporated and it worked out fine. adding some coffee in to the mixture along with the milk adds a great mocha flavor. consistency was good. thanks!

Oatmeal Gems

these are excellent. so soft and cnewy with the plumpest raisins i've ever tasted. it's the boiling of the raisins that gets them this way. I added nutmeg as well and in place of cloves.

Deep Dish Brownies

i added 1 cup of chocolate chips and followed the advice of others, only using 2 eggs rather than 3. it turned out great. for a twist on those "2 bite brownies" i used cupcake tins and made "5 bite brownies
