About this Cook
i'm a 20-something accountant by day, baker by night. I and have had a passion for baking ever since i was 9 and baked my first mini whipped cream and fruit filled mini tarts. i am a dessert person all the way and a white chocolate lover. my biggest problem is that i like to bake so much that people around me can't eat fast enough to keep up. i have a baking blog at http://BUTTERCREAMBARBIE.blogspot.com
My favorite things to cook
sweet yeast breads, cookies, cakes, desserts, pasta, ice cream, cream cheese anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my mother couldn't cook to save her life, but i guess i got my culinary aptitude from my father and my grandma - both excellent cooks!
My cooking triumphs
cheesecake. I've mastered the art of the no-crack cheesecake. cinnamon buns. Fluffy, soft, to die for.
My cooking tragedies
my mother has a habit of leaving things in the oven as a storage place. once when preheating the oven i didn't know that she left a plastic tupperware container in there and it ended up melting all over the oven. it smelled terrible, probably was toxic and i had to buy a new rack!

Caramel Apple Dip
i was surprised at how good this was and how easy it was. it also goes well as a toast spread or a topping for cinnamon buns!

Carolyn's Orange Rolls
Delicious. I love this as a nice, fresh, spring/summery alternative to Cinnamon Rolls. The dough is great to work with too. Extremely soft and fluffy and delicious.

Pecan Sandies
Pretty good, almost like the Keebler Pecan Sandies!
