General Tsao's Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
It was a bit too time consuming for a week night, but was well worth the effort. This dish is all about the sauce and it was the perfect blend of Asian flavors. A definite keeper, but maybe for having guests over or a weekend dinner instead.

Honey Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
The sesame oil was far too over powering in this sauce. My son couldn't eat it and my husband and I both ended up using a teriyaki to dunk the meat in to offset the sesame flavor. I think those who made it with olive oil and a lesser quantity were wise to do so. I will not make this again.

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
I made this recipe as is and didn't care much for it at all. It was lacking the right kind of flavor and had too much of a tomato taste to it. I've thought about what I'd change for the next go round, but I honestly can't put my finger on what it was missing.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
Amazing! This is definitely one to keep and repeat on a regular basis. I didn't change anything about this recipe and it was so good that my picky husband and my picky 10 yr old son had seconds and thirds.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
This recipe as is, is pretty bland and flavorless. I will only rate and review recipes as they are. The 2nd time I made this recipe, I made the following changes. 1. use 1 can cream of celery and one can cream of chicken 2. sear and season chicken before putting in crock pot. 3. use chicken broth instead of water. 4. use one can of biscuits as the biscuits will soak up a great deal of the soup if you use too many. Home made biscuits are the best, but canned biscuits are great when you're short on time. 5. Add veggies. I've used peas and carrots and corn, but do what suits your tastes.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
This is by far the best enchilada recipe I've tried so far. I sear the chicken and then toss it in the crock pot with the seasonings which makes for perfectly tender meat and an easy to put together meal at the end of a busy day. The recipe is perfect! I've only changed how it is prepared.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
The basic concept behind this recipe is spot on, but as other reviewers noted, it requires some modification. The chicken needs to be lightly coated in flour. The sauce should be partially reduced in a separate sauce pan. Once the breaded chicken is nicely browned and cooked through toss in the sauce which will thicken and turn sticky almost immediately because of the flour coating on the chicken. The sauce was incredible as is, but I may try to add some orange zest to it next time.

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
These pork chops were incredible. My husband is quite the snob when it comes to food and he couldn't stop talking about the sauce for these. He ate 2.5 pork chops by himself. I will keep this recipe and use it as is.

My husband and I made this recipe exactly as listed and it was great. Next time I will either make a pizza crust or buy a refrigerated one instead of the pre-baked crust.

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2012
This was absolutely incredible. By far the best recipe I've found here so far. The only thing I did differently was I seared the tenderloin over the searing burner on the gas grill. It made a perfect crust. My husband couldn't get enough. He did wish that I had made more sauce to go with it, so perhaps next time I'll double the sauce recipe and serve with white rice.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
I made this for dinner last night and it was delicious. I didn't change a thing and the flavor was perfect. Just as other reviewers mentioned it was a little salty. I made home made mashed potatoes which minimized the impact of the extra sodium. Next time perhaps I'll use a few lower sodium ingredients. I will definitely make this again, maybe I'll try it with cream of mushroom soup just to see what the difference in flavor is, but it's pretty perfect the way it is.
