My cooking ability a the start of my married life 27 years ago was something to laugh at. Married to a wonderful man who is game to try anything at least once, I have found joy in exploring new recipes. Our household is a mixture of vegetarian and vegan. It is challlenging at times when groceries are low in the house, but I've found that something good and interesting can often be made with the mere bones of ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking with vegetables and fruit. I like pastas, soups, desserts, and a variety of ethnic foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter Candyse, bakes the holiday pecan pies. My husband cooks without recipe, and is known for his odd combinations. My daughter Felisha is excellent with spices, flavorings and sauces/dressings and is a general whiz in the kitchen. My daughter Rebecca, does not have a strong interest in kitchen activity, but she's my tester. My youngest daughter, Sharon loves to help bake.
My cooking triumphs
The only triumph I can think of is making recipes turn out the way they are supposed to.
My cooking tragedies
Tragedies are recipes which fail due to lack of ingredients or the introduction of experimental ingredients.
