Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I loved this. I made one pan (half) and it was perfect for breakfast for my family of 5 with leftovers for sunday morning. I have been looking for an apple coffee cake. I ran out of sour cream and used organic vanilla yogurt (rich) and left out the nuts (i love them but the kids don't). I also used butter as I don't like the taste of shortening. I bake alot and my kids LOVED this coffee cake. Definitely making again-maybe even this week!

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
This is just delicious and it is wonderful as written. However, we like it with these few additions: added 1 bag broccoli slaw to the coleslaw mix (makes it more crisp), added 2-3 T balsamic vinegar, and added 2 T of plain or vanilla yogurt. I really like the coleslaw both the original way and with the additions--either way, it is sure to please.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
Well I just tried this recipe again...I first tried it a few years ago. This time I doubleched that I followed the recipe exactly as written: I thought they were pretty terrible. They didn't expand at all when baking--and I removed little balls of cooked cookie dough from the oven. I bake alot and use allrecipes frequently and am surprised by the high rating of this cookie. My children are eating them but I definitely would not serve these to others.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
We thought this was FANTASTIC! I am serving it tonight for the second time in a week. It is very easy. I only made some very small additions: I put garlic powder on the toasted rolls with the butter and I sauteed green pepper and onions in a smidgeon of butter and au jus from the meat. I am so excited to add this meal into our meal rotation.

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
I thought this was very good. Quite thick. I did add a 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup chocolate chips while it was warm. And you absolutely have to blend it in the blender--I tried some rigorous hand whipping and it was graining. Blender is a must. However, it is missing that something special...maybe next time I will try more vanilla or some cinnamon.

Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
This was quite good and very popular with the children at the table (hard to find something for the adults and kids sometimes). I didn't give it four stars because I thought it was lacking some punch--will have to experiment with some herbs. Will definitely try again.

Italian Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
This was delicious and I received compliments on the dressing! However, I did make a few changes and rated it 5 stars WITH the changes. I only used 1 LARGE garlic clove (or two small). I omitted the water. For the 3/4 vinegar, I filled my 3/4 cup half full with balsamic vinegar and then filled the remainder of the measuring cup with the cider vinegar. Instead of the oil listed, I used extra virgin olive oil. I also added a Tablespoon of lemon juice. Hope you enjoy--will definitely make this again!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2006
Would have added more stars if an option! Awesome recipe. Made this last thanksgiving and my father-in-law (a foodie) is still talking about it! It was wonderful and all the prep work can be done the day before--just open tupperware that morning, add eggs and broth and mix. Used Baby Bella mushrooms and think it added a wonderful flavor. Am already assigned stuffing for this Thanksgiving.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2003
This recipe is a hit whenever I serve it. THe only changes I have made were the ones suggested by other reviewers: maple syrup (not sugar syrup), cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. Add to your recipe box! PS A friend (who is an amazing cook) just told me that the pie I made (this pie) is the best pie she has ever tasted.

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2003
This was just delicious! I have been looking for a good ribs recipe and have tried many in the past couple of months--I will not need to look another further. YUM! THe only thing I did differently was to substitute a 1/4 cup of Ketchup and a T. of chili powder for the chile sauce (because I did not have any chile sauce) and I placed a BBQ dry rub on the ribs immediately before cooking. This was a big hit!!!
