My Tashi Baby
About this Cook
I am a 50 year old mom of 3 grown children 2 girls 1 boy and stepmom of 2 grown boys. I have 6 grandsons and I have worked full time with mentally handicapped people for the past 30 years. I have always liked to prepare a good meal and have never cared to bake but did it upon occasion. lately I have been baking and canning up a storm. My kids wonder if I am sick and my husband says he's not going to fit out of the housepretty soon. LOL
My favorite things to cook
I really don't know. i like to cook whatever tempts the mouth. I have been making a chicken or beef potpie lately that everyone has been raving about. It usually was my lasagna or meatloaf everyone wanted when they came for supper.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oh my thats tough. When our family ggets together (which is often) we usually start by what are you bringing. I guess the best times are when someone needs something done, like a roof put on, a shed built, siding put on. whatever it is. We set the date we all decide who is bringing what for a dish to pass and whoever needs work done if they have enough money they buy the meat if not we all bring our own meat to do on the grill. Everyone helps for the greater good of whoever needs it at the time. Family love and food that's all we need.
My cooking triumphs
I finally started baking. I used to bake upon a rare occasion but lately I have been a baking whiz. It's kind of scary.
My cooking tragedies
Grilling I really can mess up a good piece of meat on a grill. I leave the grill to the hubby. The only way I grill is to put fire bricks in the grill a put a baking pan on it to make lasagna or meatloaf in the summer so I don't have to turn the oven on and heat up the house.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
This chicken is the bomb!!! I have two grandsons who are on gluten free diets so I made this for part of our Christmas dinner with a turkey. (I made stuffing separate) I also put the spices under the skin but I put no water in the pan and left it open and cooked it slowly. It was the hit of the party everyone loved it! Thank you for sharing.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
This pie was the best apple pie I have ever eaten and I don't even care for apple pie. (I had 2 pieces) I made at work and everyone raved! Then my son came to visit and I made 2 he wanted to take what was left. He loved it so much he came for supper 2 weeks later and I made 2 more and let him take them home. I used the piecrust recipe from here it was about the same as my moms then I made an extra batch of the glaze and rolled out the leftover pie crust then I smeared part of the glaze over that, rolled it together like a pumpkin roll, sliced it and placed them in cake pan like sweet rolls then poured the rest of the glaze over the top and baked it. Man was that ever good too. Thanks bunches for sharing your grammas recipe. Noone I knew had ever heard of gramma Ople but after they eat the pie and say how wonderful it was I said its gramma Ople's recipe. she will live on forever!

Cow Pies
I thought I would try this recipe because I am always looking for something that may taste good that is gluten free. I have 2 grandsons that are on a gluten free diet and gluten free food is not always the best tasting. Well these were wonderful! I didn't even make other cookies for the other kids. All the kids were running out the door with handfuls of these yummy morsels. They were soft and chewy, heck I loved them. I made a double batch, (holy cow pies don't do this unless you want to eat lots of them) the kids and adults ate every last one of them in just a few days. This halloween I am going make these cookies and popcorn balls. Everything will be gluten free, taste great and noone will feel left out. THANKS!!!!!
