Cajun Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I had high expectations for this soup and it didn't deliver on all the lofty five star reviews. Maybe my taste buds are out protesting on Wall Street. They certainly didn't fancy this soup, though. It was milky but not in a creamy, delicious way-- but rather, in a runny, unsubstantial way. It was flavorless despite my choosing a spicy sausage to grace it's milky boringness. I definitely wouldn't make this again.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
HELLO, delicious! These are get-in-my-belly good. They certainly call for a lot of butter but, I followed the recipe and don't have any regrets. If you "are what you eat", I will soon be an apple dumpling.

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
KITCHEN CATASTROPHE! (But it was totally my bads)... I'm sure this recipe is rock-your-socks but I, unknowledgeable on pork as it is, asked my boyfriend to pick the "picnic ham"... he chose pork shoulder - shoulder... ham is the leg... do you see the problem here? Pork shoulder is fatty and really ... ham-y (no better way to say it). It also doesn't release all the nice liquid a ham does... this calculation equals a SERIOUSLY BURNT crock pot. It had to be soaked 24 hours and scrubbed until my skin was raw to work off the gnarly black crust it created. The meat was cooked and edible but not in a good way. I don't blame the recipe. Just be sure you DOUBLE CHECK what meat you are getting and try hard not to be as stupid as I am!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
These cookies are so stinkin' good, I'm going to need an intervention! I'm not a big peanut butter person nor do I like peanut butter cookies. These, however, have me switching teams. My dough seemed a little dry so I added two more tablespoons of milk-- it was a smart move because the final product was to die for. I brought some into work and, in ten minutes, they were gone. Thankfully, I was smart enough to make a personal stash at home. They are just too good to play generous.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
This shi* is bananas - b-a-n-a-n-a-s! I mean that in a good way, of course. This banana bread is ridiculous(ly) good. I was a little nervous about the addition of sour cream, I've never made banana bread with that ingredient. However, it was perfect! The loaf was sweet, moist, and fluffy. I added an extra banana which, wasn't my brightest idea. My loaf almost fell apart when I took it out of the pan since there was too much banana to hold it together. However, what it lacked in aesthetics, this loaf made up for in taste! More, please!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
Thankfully stuffing my face with delicious pulled pork has in no way impaired my ability to tell you how amazing this recipe is. Follow this recipe and you will not be disappointed. It's easy, cheap, and almost the best thing to come home to after a long day. I threw the tenderloin and root beer in the crock this morning, let it cook on low for 8 hours, it kept warm until I got home and bing bang boom- in a few minutes I had an amazing dinner. I'm 5 months pregnant and I could eat this every night until I give birth. My baby could come out shredded and covered in bbq from my obsession with this recipe. Beware the dangers of its deliciousness!

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
These cookies were very good but not the best I've ever had. I'm glad I chose to make less cookies than the original recipe called for. I reduced the serving size to 24 cookies and somehow only got 13 out of the recipe. I can't imagine how small they would have to be to make a full 24. I would make it again but I wouldn't tell my coworkers, "These cookies will blow your mind up!"... Instead, I'd just say, "I made cookies- yes, they are free and no, they are not poisonous."

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
This recipe is perfect!! I mean, holy smokes, this is so delicious-- it is by FAR my favorite baking recipe of all time. I was a little concerned about baking three loaves but I was wrong. This stuff is disappearing so fast-- I mean, a whole loaf in three hours between four people. Yeah, it's that good. You will kick yourself if you don't make three loaves. No joke, this stuff is like the tears of God.
