I also made stock from the Thanksgiving carcass - and didn't have tomatoes so used all salsa. This is delish!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
I doubled this recipe and made it for a pot luck last night. Everyone loved it. It is very easy to make, I made it as directed except I salted the potatoes as they were cooking so I used about half the amount of chicken boullion. It definately would make a great base for many different soups (if you take out the ham)...I'm thinking clam chowder next! YUM!

Veggie Pizza

I discovered through this recipe that I do not like ranch dressing mix. It is too salty. Maybe if you use less it would be ok, but it was really over powering to me. I dropped it off for a ladies lunch and it was pretty much eaten so everyone else must have liked it. I think I'll stick to a garlic/dill spread.

Cheese Ring

I really liked this. I would never have thought to put rasperry preserves with cheese, and I have never made a cheese ball of any kind. I did put nuts on the outside before the preserves. YUM!

Garlic Bread Fantastique

This is so simple and good! I did not have french bread, so I used up some left over hamburger buns as suggested on another review. We all loved it!

Chicken Enchilada Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
This is good, I have made it twice now, but both times I didn't have enough left over chicken for the whole thing so used beef on one half and chicken on the other. I prefer the beef. It is quite mushy, but my kids like that. It definately needs something with a little texture on the side. I will keep this recipe around for a quick meal that uses up left over taco meat or chicken.

Sweet Grilled Corn

This wasn't terrible, but we didn't think it was great. I think I'll stick to the salt, pepper, butter we usually use. Maybe I'll add garlic.

Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
I also made this in a bundt pan. It is very good, but mine also turned out more like banana bread. I hand mixed it, so next time I'll use the Kitchenaid and maybe add the extra tsp of baking soda. I frosted it with the Creamy Frosting recipe from this site. Got lots of compliments!

Oatmeal Pancakes II

These were a hit for breakfast this morning. I did have to add a little more flour, the batter was a little thin, so I used about 1/4 of whole wheat flour. They were delish!

This was very good. Easy to make and went great on the yellow cake I made for a birthday party. So easy to spread. Not real sweet, and definately has a chocolate pudding flavor.

Moist Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
I mostly wanted to post this review because I read many reviews before I made this cake, and I am another person frustrated with people reviewing a recipe that they have altered! So after reading the reviews I concluded that the cornmeal taste was possibly due to under mixing. Needless to say, my disaster is probably due to over mixing the recipe. I ended up with inverted cupcakes and a cake that was completely brown and inverted before it was finished, and still didn't really set up like a cake. A complete throw away disaster. I have learned my lesson - make it as the recipe is written! Having said that, the flavor of what I do have is still very good, and it is moist. If I had not over mixed I would probably have a real crowd pleaser! Update: I made this cake again, as directed this time and it turned out great!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
The sauce in this recipe is the best I've ever tasted. I made it exactly as written, and it is YUM! We had dinner guests and they all thought it was great. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't really like the layering method for the lasagna, I don't think it is layered like any lasagna I've had is, and it was just a little dry. I did use more sauce than what the recipe calls for in each layer, and had lots of sauce left. I would put even more sauce in next time. The kids had the rest of the sauce with spaghetti the next day, and loved it. I think this will even replace my spaghetti sauce recipe! This is definately a keeper!

My family did not like this recipe at all. I would not call this a 'stew' it definately has a pickeled flavor.
