Grandma's Doughnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2014
Yummy!! We loved these! I used flaky, junior sized biscuits and they were the perfect size. We used cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar and a vanilla glaze and they were all good!!!

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
This is awesome! I've made it so many times and it doesn't last long. It's really good on grilled chicken and just with tortilla chips. Everyone who tries it wants the recipe! Very, very good!

These are exactly what they say they are - big, soft, thick and chewy! I have been looking for a recipe like this forever!!! They are awesome!

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
This is so good!! I was worried my husband would not like it since it doesn't have a lot of meat in it, but he loves it! He said the lentils taste meaty. This is a great dish to stretch your food budget since lentils are cheap. It really is more like a stew because it's pretty thick especially the next day. Very flavorful, filling and good!

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
Wow!! This is sooooo good! It is so moist and full of flavor. It is so good it can be dessert, not just coffee cake. It's really easy too. I had been looking for a cinnamon roll recipe, but decided to try this instead since it seemed so much easier than making cinnamon rolls. I was not disappointed! When you want a homey, old fashioned dessert this is the one!!

Byrdhouse Mushroom Barley Pilaf

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I tried this recipe to replace noodles, rice and potatoes as side dishes due to health reasons. My husband is a die hard meat and potatoes man, but he really liked this recipe. I didn't put in the mushrooms or the basil but it was still really good. I also used olive oil instead of butter. What I liked about it is that it kind of makes its own creamy sauce so you don't have to put anything on it when its done. I'm trying it tonight but adding celery and carrots and using beer instead of wine and beef broth instead of chicken broth. This is a great, healthy, and cheap side dish!

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Very good!! I didn't have thyme so I used basil instead. I also added some minced garlic in with the veggies. This will become a regular in our dinner rotation! It was thick, hearty, filling and tasty!!

Shish Tawook Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
Soooooo good!!!! My son wanted this for his 8th birthday dinner! Not pizza or chicken nuggets - Shish Tawook! Haha! It's a bit messy when grilling it - especially if you use a George Foreman grill. I'm trying it tonight on the outdoor grill - I hope it's not as messy!

Turkey Carcass Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
This is awesome! My Mom has been making this soup for years. I just made it this year and it turned out great! I put a little extra barley in it. I also didn't have any poultry seasoning or thyme but it's still really good. My carcass was big so I had to divide it up between two soup pots and added a lot more water to cover both than what the recipe calls for. It made about 1 and a half soup pots full of soup. We have a lot of leftovers!

Spicy Ham and Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
This was very good. I used Monterey Jack instead of the provolone. I think it would be even better with pepper jack.

Tzatziki Sauce II

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
Very good and tasty! The first time I made it I just chopped the cucumber, this time (making it now), I am shredding it like the recipe says. The chunks were too big when chopping it.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
I just made these for my son who is allergic to peanuts and nuts. He can't have donuts from a bakery so I thought I'd make these. They were good. I used the suggestion of glazing some with a vanilla glaze because glazed donut holes are my favorite kind. I actually preferred the cinnamon sugar ones. With the nutmeg in the donut, the cinnamon sugar ones were better tasting. I guess all that matters is that my son was happy that he got to eat some donuts!!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
I've been making these for awhile. My husband likes to take granola bars to work as a snack. I've been trying to avoid processed food so I make them now instead of buying them. I've reduced the amount of sugar in them, I add a cup of the individual applesauce to make them moister and my husband like craisins and chocolate chips.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
I made these a few weeks ago because of all the great reviews. Eh....they were just like any other chocolate chip cookie recipe - flat. They were nothing special.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2013
I made this dip for the Superbowl. My husband loves buffalo chicken wings so I thought this would be a good choice. It was okay when I first made it. I put it in a crock pot to keep it warm and by the end of the first quarter it had become way, way, way too salty. Even when it was freshly made it was just alright, not really good. I won't make it again.
