My favorite family cooking traditions
Tuna casserole with rainbow rotini and mushroom soup. Hamburger goop with rice. Bacon-topped cornbread. Mashed potatoes and corn pudding at Thanksgiving. Country ham and biscuits with red-eye gravy. Coffee.
My cooking triumphs
Pork tenderloin and steamed kale with lime sauce. I love it, my husband loves it, everyone I've served it to loves it, and it's all mine. It makes me happy to know I invented something people love.
My cooking tragedies
Don't ever use whole wheat flour to make a roux for gumbo. Just trust me.
