Baked Spinach

Reviewed: May 8, 2003
With so many suggestions in the reviews, this has become a whole different recipe! I took RIVERTOWNMOM's suggestions and added a few of my own. It came out so good that I added it as a new recipe on this site. See Spinach Dip Casserole.

I don't know about perfect, but very good. Paneer is much better than ricotta.

Very good, but make sure you pre-cook the potatoes. You might also want to increase the spice.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2003
Oh my, yum! The moistest cake I've ever had. You can't really taste the sour cream, so I may want to try again with more, but it is excellent as is too.

Vegetable Masala

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2003
Perhaps I did something wrong, but this was awful. Some veggies were over cooked and some were under cooked. The spices were strange, and the sauce was dry.

Indian Chicken Curry I

Fantastic recipe and super easy! I used precooked chicken from Trader Joe's and this took no time at all. Taste before you serve, as you might want to increase the spices a bit.

It really matters what peppers you choose... Mine were too hot to eat, but the batter was great!

Blue Cheese, Port, and Walnut Spread

WOW! This is a great appetizer, but watch out for the port! If you let this sit too long it will self-ferment and become alcohol in solid form!

Great texture, horrible taste. What a waste of a good pie crust! I do not recommend this recipe.

Chili I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2002
How many reviews are we up to now? It doesn't matter; this recipe is incredible and deserves all the praise it can get! I planned on making it one night and then got called out to dinner with a friend. I put all the components together in bowls (step 1 in one bowl and step 2 in another) and left them in the fridge for 3 or 4 days before actually cooking. By this time, the beer had gone flat, but no worries. I think the flavors all melded nicely in the fridge and my first bite of this coffee-chocolate-beer concoction knocked my socks off. DO NOT HALF THIS RECIPE! You'll regret it as you'll wish you had more of this wonderful dish. I used 2 jalapenos and one long green chili (anaheim?) but found it could use even more spice than that. Enjoy! Thanks Bob!

Vietnamese Style Vegetarian Curry Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2002
Fantastic! I used the full amount of water/broth and still found this to be a thick soup. I didn't fry the tofu and used a lemongrass paste instead of fresh lemongrass; both were fine. Add lots of extra red pepper if you like it spicy. Skip the bean sprouts, but don't skip the cilantro.
