Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
For years I have made my own pancakes and we have our stand by recipe which is ok and we often do a South Beach "muscle pancake" and an oatmeal one . . etc, basically I'm just trying to say that we've tried lots and lots of different pancake recipes in this house AND THIS ONE is tops! They are so pretty and puffy, my kids just raved about them. Thanks! This will be our new standby pancake recipe.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
This is a keeper in my house. I grilled pork tenderloin with this sauce while my uncle visited and he asked for THREE helpings. I used honey instead of molasses just b/c I didn't have any molasses but I will try molasses some time. Absolutely delicious. Thank you.

Singapore Noodle Curry Shrimp

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
I followed the recipe to the tee. I doubled the sauce and made a chicken version for my husband who won't eat seafood and he liked it too. My 1 year old couldn't get enough. Definitely a keeper in our house. Thank you! Yum!

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Ok, this muffin is what is keeping me on a diet. I tried diets where you snack on nuts and other grains, but they weren't my thing. My thing is anything cake-like or breadish. These are delicious and much better than the rock solid health food store muffins. The fiber and low cal qualities of this recipe make it a staple in my house. I have to admit though, the kids don't care for them but I like them enough to make them just for me.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
This is a good solid corn bread recipe. The outer parts tend to be a bit dry whereas the middle sections are more moist. This is my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I sprinkled some sugar on top of the pan before putting it in the oven and it sweetened it a bitmore. This was a hit with friends and prefect with chili.

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
These pancakes were so yummy and such a pretty site. They cooked up into perfect little round puffs. I did think the batter was too runny so after reading the reviews I added just a bit of whole wheat flour (1/4 cup) but they cooked up so nicely that maybe I didn't really need it after all? I like to make my pancake batter ahead and just add the wet ingredients in the morning so I'm not sure this recipe is that kind of user friendly but really quite a healthy treat. Thank you for sharing!

Strawberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
A very yummy muffin. Moist and delicious, what more can you ask for? I also added a sugary topping and I must admit that my kids ate the top off the muffin and left the rest but they aren't big on muffins no matter what. I will definitely make this recipe again and can't wait to try the blueberry/orange juice variation. I would imagine that blueberry/lemon would also be tastey. Thanks for submitting!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
I certainly don't know what the hoopla is all about. These weren't exactly "brownies." They weren't terrible, but I was looking for a brownie recipe, which this is not. My husband thought the whole brownie was too sweet and he couldn't finish a small piece. The icing was grainy. I was disappointed with how thin it was too. I'm continuing my search for a brownie recipe as I won't be making this again.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2003
This pie was excellent. I need to work on a better pie crust but the filling was delicious. I didn't use cinnamon and I have to say, as good as this pie was I really think some cinnamon would have made it even better. Hubbie and family, all apple pie lovers, loved this pie. I will be making this again, just adding a little cinnamon.

Fresh Herb Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2003
It took a lot longer to rise than the recipe called for and I ended up with somewhat hard rolls. This is only the second time I've worked with yeast so I'm not sure if it's the recipe or me but I won't try this one again. I like softer rolls.

1-2-3 Vegetable Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2003
I was skeptical of this recipe since it was so easy and didn't require an onion or garlic! It was EXCELLENT. My father-in-law, mother-in-law and hubbie LOVED it. My husband is so excited that even he could make this chili (he is not gifted in the culinary arts). Very tastey. Thank you!

Pie Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2003
We used a can of blueberries and this was a hit (even with my mother-in-law who usually only likes chocolate desserts). I don't know what fruit the person who said this cake turned out dry used because I've never had a more moist cake. Very easy, moist, light and delicious. A little scoop of ice cream compliments this well. Thank you Joyce!

Oatmeal Gems

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
My entire family loved these cookies. The only change I made was to omit the nuts. They are soft, chewy and full of flavor due to the cloves. This will certainly be a favorite cookie for years to come. My father-in-law instantly requested the recipe when he bit into one. Thank you for sharing Martha.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
Due to cost, I omitted the sun-dried tomatoes and this was still excellent. It is now a regular snack in our house. It is so easy and just packed with flavor. A big hit.

Rory's Most Wonderful Corn Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2002
I was so excited to try this recipe after reading all the wonderful reviews but I ended up being rather disappointed. The bread was only mediocre. I don't think I will make it again. My disappointment may be due to my high expectations from reading the reviews.
