About this Cook
I live with my common-law husband, my son, an aging cat and yorkie dog. I enjoy the outdoors, camping especially.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer comfort foods. Meat and potatoes just like my mom made. On occasion I like to try different recipes. I get tired of the same old thing week in/week out. Thai is my favorite all time meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas baking is the first thing that comes to mind. That's when all the women got in the kitchen at the same time and had fun.
My cooking triumphs
I like to follow a recipe to the T so when one turns out exactly as it should and tastes great I feel I've accomplished something great. My husband does the baking part better.
My cooking tragedies
One Christmas I made my now-traditional Buck-Eyed balls. These are peanut butter balls mixed with icing sugar and coconut and rice krispies rolled in chocolate. My first time making them (age 10) was a disaster. I used uncooked rice instead of rice sister-in-law ate one and said ummmmm crunchy. She was being polite. They were terrible.

Leftover Casserole
This recipe is lacking serious instructions. What the author forgot to mention was to add 1 (8 ounce) package elbow macaroni - COOKED! If you follow the instructions given you will not be eating in 45 mins. I followed this recipe without cooking the noodles but felt because the noodles were uncooked it needed more liquid - so I doubled the milk.

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole
Found it a bit salty because of the cream soups. Would not add salt to season the beef.
