Slow Cooker Beef Stew III

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
This was EXCELLENT!! I followed the recipe ingredients to the T and it was perfect - great flavor, perfect consistency (nice and thick) and all around delicious. HOWEVER, I only had this in the crockpot for 11 hours and it was perfect! The meat fell apart, the veggies were really tender (onions nearly dissolved so don't worry about it seeming too oniony!) I am not sure I would have liked it cooked longer - I think it might be too mushy. I will definitely stick with this beef stew recipe - its fantastic.

Apple Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Perfectly delicious fall recipe! I stayed pretty true to the recipe with the exception of doubling the amount of onions used (I wanted the stuffing a little more savory) and I used a 2 lb. pork loin which I sliced 1/2 through lengthwise and stuffed it (after seasoning it inside and out with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning) and cooked it 1/2 hour with foil, 1/2 hour without PERFECT. I also made a gravy using pan drippings, chicken stock, and apple cider - seasoning it to taste. I highly recommend using fresh bread crumbs (I used fresh bread and ran it through the food processor) and unlike other reviewers - did NOT think there was too much bread. This is a fantastic recipe and is a great way to use pork. Will be a regular in the fall meal rotation!

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I have never cooked quinoa before and this was the perfect recipe to start with! Very quick, very easy, VERY satisfying and delicious!! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I would also follow others suggestions and add some red peppers or zucchini for added color - but great nonetheless. I also used several dashes of the green Tabasco sauce. Thought I'd have plenty for leftovers for lunch... son loved it and finished it off.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
Great comfort food! I followed this recipe using ground lean turkey and without mashing the carrots (I cut them up and cooked them in beef broth to make them more tender before adding to the turkey mixture) and I also added some lima beans (you could add almost any veggie you like). I made clean-up easier by using a deep oven-safe frying pan to brown the turkey and simply adding the veggies and mashed potatoes to the pan) - this was delicious and a breeze to make. Will DEFINTELY make again!!

Maria's Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2006
I needed a quick recipe using the few ingredients I had on hand and printed this off as I ran out the door after work and what a GREAT choice this was! It was absolutely delicious and very easy. I used slightly less honey than it called for (I ran out) but the sauce was delicious! I used one red and one green pepper just for color and did add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch which did give the sauce a little more body. Served over rice this was a HIT. I will absolutely make this again.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
There might be mac and cheese recipes out there that call for higher quality cheese, that are more sophisticated but they do NOT taste as good as this one. I have tried so many recipes and none are as delicious as this one!

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
Wow! This is an EXCEPTIONAL dish! I made this for Christmas dinner and my entire family raved. As other reviewers noted it is labor intensive but the end result is well worth it! The sauce is absolutely delicious and you will want to make sure you serve some sort of bread because everyone will want to sop up evey bit of it! By far the BEST recipe I have made from this site.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
These were great! Finally found a gingerbread cookie recipe that was ALMOST like mom's. The dough worked up great and was very easy to use. I cooked these for about 8 mins because I like my cookies a little soft and they tasted delicious. I only gave 4 stars because while they really are yummy, I have had better and I wouldn't call it "the best" recipe.

Make Ahead French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
This is WONDERFUL! I made this for and brought it into work and everyone RAVED about it - it is very decadent (just what you want around the holidays!) The only adjustment I made was to add only 1 cup of milk. I also "buttered" the baking dish and had no problem with anything sticking. I will definitely make this on Christmas morning!

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
This is my son's favorite holiday treat! I use half a bag of white chocolate and half a bag of semi-sweet, melted them in separate bowls and first pour the white chocolate down, then the dark on top. Then just take knife and cross-cross through the mixture making it "marbled" to your liking (but not too much or it will look muddy). I find that easier than making the two layers. I also added some peppermint extract to the chocolate layer and it is FABULOUS!!

This was an incredibly EASY and scrumptious recipe! It is also a great recipe to play around with to appeal to different tastes - depending on what you use as your "topping". I did use the cherry pie filling and they looked very pretty and YUMMY!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
Cookie perfection! These cookies were so quick and easy and the results were heavenly! I used an entire bag of chips (no such thing as too much chocolate) and added chopped walnuts to half the batter (my son is not a nut fan). What you end up with is a huge, rich, chocolatey, crispy, chewy indulgence.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
Just chalk up one more rave! This is a "true" banana bread, not overly sweet with lots of banana flavor (just how I LOVE it). I have to think anyone who ended up with dry or rubbery bread, stirred too long (that can effect the end product). Important to stir only until all blended. This was a GREAT recipe that everyone loved. I added chopped walnuts but that is definitely up to personal preference.

I am so happy I found this recipe!! My favorite Lebanese restaurant serves this salad and my mouth always waters when it comes to the table. This recipe is nearly identical to theirs (the dressing is To DIE FOR)!! Look for the sumac if you can - it is worth the effort!!
