Tasty Roasted Beets

Reviewed: May 11, 2013
I like this recipe quite a lot, I tossed my beets in some canola oil (I was out of olive so I substituted) and put in about 1/2 tsp. of rosemary and 1/2 tsp. of ground thyme along with a sprinkling of salt. I put them in the oven at 400 degrees and baked them for 45 minutes. Tasted great.

Wheat Crackers

Reviewed: May 11, 2013
This is a nice and easy recipe for crackers. I've made these crackers twice now and have found that it's best to roll these pretty thin and for me I had 3 large cookie sheets of crackers. I also ended up having to bake these for about 30-35 minutes until they became nice and golden brown. I like this recipe but they aren't super flavorful--however still very good and crispy. I'm sure by adding herbs/spices as other reviewers have stated you could get a more flavorful cracker.

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
This recipe is great and very easy to make. I think I will add more salt to the kernels in the future as 1/2 tsp. didn't give the popcorn much saltiness. It worked out fine for us to just fold the bag over 3 times, however, 1/2 c. of popcorn kernels in a paper lunch bag was a bit too much. I ended up pouring some of the fully popped popcorn out and letting the un-popped kernels go for another minute or so. I think maybe 1/-4 to 1/3 c. would be better suited for a smaller bag like I used. This recipe is a definite winner!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
This is an excellent recipe! I appreciate that it is so simple but results in a delicious meat loaf. I've tried other recipes that required more ingredients but still did not compare to this-- I would highly recommend this recipe.

Easy Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
This a great, simple recipe. I tend to use a bit more water and coffee than what the recipe calls for and put in a vanilla sugar syrup instead of granulated white sugar. This is a wonderful base recipe to get yourself started on making iced coffee at home!

Challah I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
Great recipe, this bread tastes wonderful and is simple to make. I always just make a half batch so I end up with one large loaf. It seems I end up adding about an extra half cup-three quarters cup of flour (beyond the amount the recipe calls for) while kneading to make this dough not too sticky. I highly recommend this recipe, it makes for great sandwich bread and french toast!

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2013
This is a pretty awesome recipe. I have been looking for a monkey bread recipe that does not call for refrigerator biscuits and this is perfect. I do not have a bundt pan so I used a muffin pan instead (only cooked this for about 15 minutes) and popped 3 or 4 of the chunks of dough into each greased muffin cup. However, I will definitely have to get a bundt pan now that I know how wonderful this recipe is and try it that way next!

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2013
These tasted very good. I sprinkled ours with a little salt before baking and recommend cooking these at 400-425 degrees in the oven and turning half way through the cooking process. 400 degrees seemed a bit too low as these weren't browning enough at that temperature so I ended up setting the oven to 425 degrees half way through baking these. Easy and delicious.

Lavash Cracker Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
I had never tasted nor heard of lavash until I came across this recipe but I must say this tastes pretty good. I wasn't able to use quite as much flour as the recipe called for, I think I was only able to knead in about 2 3/4 cups of flour all together (so less 1/2 cup than what the recipe calls for) and I used half whole wheat and half white flour. This was easy to make, just quite the task to be in the kitchen rolling out so many huge crackers with the oven at 500 degrees-- it was toasty in the kitchen! Definitely worth the effort.

Home-Made Cream of Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
Great recipe to have, this tastes very good and keeps me from buying canned soup at the grocery store. I mostly use this soup in recipes that call for any type of cream soup. The only changes I made were that I used butter instead of oil to make the roux (same amount) and didn't add sugar.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
This recipe yields a delicious sweet cornbread. Another reviewer mentioned that it crumbles easily which is does, however, if you let it cool completely before cutting and serving the bread (which is hard to do because this tastes so good) it seems to be less crumbly. I highly recommend this recipe!

Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
These are very delicious! I did up the milk to 1/2 c. like other reviewers suggested, also added in 1 tsp. of cinnamon to the dough, and made a cinnamon sugar sprinkle for the top. These actually look and taste like store bought graham crackers-- better tasting in reality. I will be making these a lot!

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
So yummy, so simple to make. The only thing I do differently is that I let the dough rise after making/kneading in a greased and covered bowl-- once it has risen after about an hour I punch it down and then go onto step three. After making this a couple of times I am finally getting the hang of shaping hot dog buns. We don't ever bother purchasing hamburger or hotdog buns at the store now that I've started using this recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
This turned out really well, I didn't quite follow the recipe, instead I did a homemade version of it. I made my own cream of chicken soup instead of buying it canned and also made my own biscuit dough rather than buying it pre made. As for the chicken...I make big batches of chicken in the crock pot that I shred up to use in recipes like this so I pulled some out from the freezer and thawed it so my chicken was already tender and shredded (After I made the soup I just added in the chicken, onion, and butter in all at once into the same saucepan). I also just cooked this low and slow on the stovetop for about and hour and a half, adding the cut up biscuit dough in for the last half hour-45 minutes. It was super delicious!

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
This recipe turned out pretty well overall. I did make the mistake of using flour tortillas instead of corn so they were a little soggy after baking, definitely will use corn if I make this again. I also think that I will make the green chile sauce as well instead of buying the canned version. However, for a quick and easy meal the canned stuff works out fine.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
I followed this recipe exactly and it lacked flavor. Maybe like some other reviewers mentioned that using stock instead of broth and fresh garlic may help increase the flavor.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
I opted to make only half of this recipe, I cheated and put the ingredients into the bread machine to make the dough for me and it will only make so much dough at once :) These rolls rise up very nicely and are beautiful! They aren't big on flavor but I found when we ate these with our meal that they were perfect. These are great rolls to make if you have company coming over because they honestly look store bought (like a professional baker made them) rather than squirly and weird like some of my rolls have looked in the past, rolling them up like a pinwheel is brilliant.

Wonderful recipe! I made this to use as sandwich bread and to make garlic bread, it's truly excellent! Very easy to make with the bread machine. I followed the recipe exactly and got two very delicious baguettes.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Very good white bread recipe! I just made one loaf and used my bread machine to make the dough (just put the ingredients in the order suggested for my machine and set it on the dough cycle), then shaped it, let it rise in the pan, and baked it. I will say that it is too sweet to use as regular sandwich bread, when I made a second loaf I reduced the sugar to 2 tablespoons. Overall, a great recipe!
