Nauvoo Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I am not a huge fan of gingerbread cookies, but I really liked these, I couldn't stop eating them. These cookies were soft but still held there form well. The only thing I did different, based on other reviews was add a sprinkling of nutmeg, other than that no changes. I added some decoration and they were seriously delicious.

Peanut Butter Brownie Bites

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I made these for Christmas and they turned out perfect, if you follow the directions exactly they come out looking just like the pictures. My only complaint was that they did take awhile to make. I did get a lot of compliments however, so it was worth it.

Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
I made this today because I wanted a whipped cream that I could pipe, and it worked out perfectly. It took awhile for the whipped cream to stiffen, but it was totally worth it. Also I could not fold the whipped cream and cream cheese mixture together very well so I had to mix it for a second and it was still delicious, I couldn't stop eating it right out of the bowl. I did use powdered sugar (about 1.5 cups) I don't know if that would make a difference but it was all I had. Thanks so much for this recipe, I added it to my box and I am sure I will use it again.

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2013
I read reviews before I make anything, but this time I didn't, I just made these real fast one morning for the kids because I had some leftover buttermilk. These were seriously delicious. I eat low-carb, but they just looked so good I had to try one, it took all the will-power I had to not eat more. I cooked them on the skillet with my bacon, so they were very slightly crisp, and they were probably the best pancakes I have ever eaten. They were very fluffy, I didn't change a thing, thanks for this recipe.

Vegetarian Mexican Inspired Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
My husband and I recently started eating almost exclusively vegetarian meals, and this was first on our list. It was very good. We love spicy, but the kids wouldn't eat it, because the Mexican cheese I added also had peppers in it. Otherwise I followed the directions (except I used red peppers) and it was delicious. My husband said we should use the filling to make burritos so we are going to try those next. We will make this again for sure.

Glossy Royal Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
I used this recipe to decorate Easter cookies and they turned out well. The original recipe was quite thick and perfect for edging, I did thin it for filling the cookies, everything turned out well I would use this again.

Snowballs II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
My husband requested 1 cookie this year for Christmas and it was these. I had never made them before, but found this recipe, and boy was he happy. I got so many compliments. I am not a huge cookie lover, but fresh out of the oven these are delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, with no candy cane, my husband hates mint. Real butter is a must, I used salted butter, but I am not sure if that matters.

Chicken Andouille Gumbo

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2012
So I've made this twice now, the first time I made the okra and chickened out of using it because it was very slimy, and quite honestly I wasn't sure if I would like it. So the second time I omitted it completely. I know it technically wasn't even Gumbo the way I made it since I also omitted the file powder as well but it was still good. The second time I made it I used a different "no fillers/all natural" sausage and it was not half as good as the first time. The first time I used Johnsonville New Orleans sausage and it came out good and spicey, so I recommend that. I gave it 4 stars versus 5 because it wasn't that good the second time with a less spicey sausage, so it could maybe use more seasoning or something, I ended up adding jalapenos. I also, like many other reviewers noted, added onions to the recipe.

Spinach Salad with Pistachio Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2012
I made this salad today for dinner, and it came out very well. The only thing I omitted was avacado, because I do not like it, but the salad was still very good. I did put my chicken in an egg wash because I wasn't sure if the pistachios were going to stick, and they stuck very well. I cut the chicken thin and had no problems with the pistachios getting too brown as another reviewer noted. The chicken was perfect, my husband and I really enjoyed it. This would be a perfect light summer lunch or dinner.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2012
I made these exactly like the recipe said. It did seem like it was going to be too much flour and I ended up adding 3 tablespoons of water to make up for it, but otherwise I followed the recipe. These pretzels really do taste like the mall ones. We made mostly salt ones and a few cinnamon ones, for which I followed another reviewers idea of adding honey to my butter to get the cinnamon/sugar to stick. They were seriously delicious. My husband did the baking soda bath for me and he said it dried out it hands, but otherwise these were fairly simple, just alittle time consuming. I will be making these again, no doubt.
