About this Cook
I'm a self employed photographer and nursing student with two young boys. I'm constantly trying new recipes for my little guys (well, kind of little - they're 7 and 11) to enjoy. I have only learned to cook within the last few years since my divorce. (My ex-husband used to do all of the cooking, so I've had to have a crash course - but I love it!!)
My favorite things to cook
Anything that incorporates fresh herbs and veggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On summer break I have my oldest boy (who is 11 this year) choose two recipes per week for him to make with me only supervising. Then at the end of summer he gets a final project to cook on his own. It's a great way to spend quality time with my boy and it teaches us both a lot about cooking.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumph was when I was making Thanksgiving dinner and I ran out of room in the oven to make the sweet potato souffle. So, I used the grill to make the souffle and it was fantastic! It certainly wasn't pretty, but it tasted great!
My cooking tragedies
Ugh - Don't get me started....

Baked Chicken Nuggets
This is a fantastic dish! The only problem is that my kids eat it all before I have a chance to get to any of them! I love that they're baked and they are so much better for the kids than the fast food alternatives. They go great with the honey-dijon mustard dip. Yummy!!

Eggs Benedict
This is one of my favorite recipes! It's super yummy and very easy to make. I leave out the bacon, use whole wheat english muffins and serve it with fresh fruit and veggies to make it seem a little healthier - that way I don't feel so guilty for loving this dish!
