I made this apple pie and my 4yr son kept asking me when it would be done b/c it smelled so good. I did the lattice top....my husband did not want to cut it b/c it looked so pretty. I did take the advice of other reviewers...I brushed the bottom of the crust with an egg whites (I made my own buttery crust). For the sauce, I added 1 tbsp of vanilla, 1 tbsp of connstarch, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of nutmeg....I took out 1tbsp of water b/c I added the vanilla. I added the sauce to the apples instead of pouring on top of my lattice crust. The sauce was very good but next time I'm going to double the sauce. I baked the pie as per the original directions...15 minutes on 425 and 45 minutes at 350. 10 minutes before the pie was done I brushed milk on top of the crust and sprinkled a brown and white cinammon sugar mixture. This pie was soooo pretty and my husband loved it! I'm definitely making this again...but doubling the sauce. Great recipe!
