Bread Pudding I

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
This was my first time making bread pudding ever. My husband requested it. So, I found this recipe. It was so easy and my husband LOVED IT! I did make some very slight changes. Instead of 3/4 cups of white sugar, I added 1/4 cup of light brown sugar and the rest white sugar. I also baked it 15 minutes longer in the oven. I think next time, I going to soak my raisins in rum or whiskey and add some fruit like bananas and pears to see how it turns out. But this is a keeper! UPDATE:Today, I made this again and added 1 banana, 1 pear, and 1 apple (slice and peeled of course). And I added butterscotch chips and golden raisins. DELICIOUS! I made it for Father's day and my father, step-father, and step-mother loved it! This time I only used light brown sugar and I baked it for 1 hour. This recipe is definitely a keeper...it's so simple to make!

Barbara's Golden Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
I found this recipe about 2 years ago. And I have made this cake over a dozen times. I receive sooooo many compliments when I make it. The only thing I do differently is add more lemon extract. Other than that, I follow the directions to the "T". You know this is a good recipe, when your grandmother request that you make this cake.

Just made this cake in a 8x11 glass pan. It is very good! I used regular flour instead of cake and I used 4 bananas. My husband really likes it! I also used the cream cheese frosting recipe from this site. I'm definitely making this again. Next time I will include some chocolate chips,

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
Very good recipe and it is so easy. I took the advice of other and boiled the ribs in soy sauce and chopped onion wedges for 1 hour. Then they marinated for 2-3 hours...then I baked them for 1.5 hours. I used Sweet Rays Honey BBQ sauce, the whole bottle and I basted it with more sauce 15 minutes before the specified cooking time was up. Delicious! Definitely using again.

Tuna Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
I made this tonight and my husband didn't really like it. I thought it was ok tasting but the italian dressing was a little overpowering to me. However, if that's what you like...then this is the recipe for you.

Pie Crust V

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I was looking for a pie crust like a sugar cookie and then I came across this recipe. I followed the advice of some of the reviewers and used 1 egg and more sugar. I also used wax paper, however, for me it was still hard to roll out. Then I remembered some reviewers just patted out in the pie pan. This definitely worked. Well, I like this crust much better. I was never a crust person...I always ate the pie filling and left the crust. However, I like this crust and my 4 year old liked it as well. I made the crust with a sweet potato pie and it went very well with it. I will make again.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I made this apple pie and my 4yr son kept asking me when it would be done b/c it smelled so good. I did the lattice top....my husband did not want to cut it b/c it looked so pretty. I did take the advice of other reviewers...I brushed the bottom of the crust with an egg whites (I made my own buttery crust). For the sauce, I added 1 tbsp of vanilla, 1 tbsp of connstarch, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of nutmeg....I took out 1tbsp of water b/c I added the vanilla. I added the sauce to the apples instead of pouring on top of my lattice crust. The sauce was very good but next time I'm going to double the sauce. I baked the pie as per the original directions...15 minutes on 425 and 45 minutes at 350. 10 minutes before the pie was done I brushed milk on top of the crust and sprinkled a brown and white cinammon sugar mixture. This pie was soooo pretty and my husband loved it! I'm definitely making this again...but doubling the sauce. Great recipe!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
Great recipe! My husband and I liked this recipe very much. I took the advice of several reviewers and doubled the sauce recipe. But I only used a pack and half of the dry italian seasoning. I also used penne pasta instead. This recipe is a keeper. Next, I'm going to season my chicken a little bit but overall great recipe!

Excellent cake and very easy. I did follow the suggestions of other reviewers. I used baking soda instead of baking powder, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla, 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips and 1/4 cup butterscotch chips. I also baked it in a 8x8 dish. Delicious! When my husband asks for seconds....you know it's a keeper. Will definitely make again!

Quick and Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
Great and easy recipe! I used more peaches. You can never have enough fruit & I made it slightly different. I took 1 cup of the peach juice added 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1 tbsp of cornstarch, a pinch of salt, 1 tsp of nutmeg and cooked over medium heat until it boiled and was nice and thick....then I added 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Once I added my peaches to the sugar/flour/milk mixture ....I then added my peach juice and sprinkled cinnamon. I cooked mine until it was nice and brown on top...about 45-50 minutes. Very good! But next time I'm going to add more peach juice...I like a juicy peach cobbler, but over all very good especially with vanilla bean ice cream! My husband loved it and I will definitely make this again!

Easy Baked Tilapia

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
Very quick and Very easy. I'm glad I read alot of reviews first. I used sliced lemons and lemon juice, garlic and onion powder, and heavy with the old bay. The only thing that was an issue was it wasn't done in 30 minutes. I did have my frozen vegetables and tilapia in the refrigerator all day before I cooked it....but it took 40 minutes to cook. I know next time just start checking on it at the 25 minute mark. However, other than that very good and very quick!!!! I know a dish is good when my husband eats it all!!!!!

Vanilla Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
Very good pie! I have to admit no one in my family makes pumpkin pie....we never have it at any holiday functions....my family prefers sweet potato pie...but I wanted to give it a try...this recipe was fine for those that do not like a spicy pie....however, i did want to taste some spice but I didn't want the pie to be overpowered by the spices. The only thing I did differently was add 1/4 of brown sugar, only 1/2 white sugar, and a little bit more of vanilla. I think next time I will make it a tad sweeter but that's just a personal preference....heck my 4 year old liked it and asked for more. The only test is my husband...he doesn't like pumpkin pie...so we'll see. But overall, i will make this pie for Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Great recipe!!!!! I made this last night and the only changes I made was I halved the recipe and made it in a 8x8 dish. I also doubled the cinnamon and addeed a little bit of nutmeg and ginger. I had to bake it for 45 minutes. After it cooled, I made my own cream cheese frosting and added orange sugar sprinkles. My only concern was my husband who "does not prefer pumpkin anthing"....but tasted it today and said it was very good! I think I'm going to make this for Thanksgiving!!!! Thanks for the great recipe!

Taco Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Very good salad. I made my own personal salad. I put the tortilla chips on the bottom and layered the lettuce on top. I mixed the ground beef, pasta, tomatoes, and green peppers together and sprinkled my cheese on top. I omitted the dressing and added sour cream and salsa. Delicious!!!! Will definitely make again.
