Vintage Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
Tasty! After reading through the reviews, I didn't cut out very much of the pith - only where it was especially thick on one lemon. I reduced the sugar to 1C and added a teaspoon of dried lavender. I accidentally added too much water, filling the bowl to almost 2Qts with the lemon, lavender and sugar... and yet, this was fabulous! Can't wait to make it again.

Tomato Pork Loin Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I thought this was yummy; my daughter did, too. I left out the fennel cuz I didn't have any, and served over wild rice. Added broccoli to the leftovers for a super-tasty, easy dinner.

Bacon Wrapped Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
My family loved it! I made half a chicken breast each (butterflied), covered the top of the roll with bacon, totally forgot the vegetable oil (oops!), and baked 40 mins. So totally delicious! I will definitely make this again. No added garlic, pine nuts, or Parmesan since pesto already has all that. Served with basil fried potatoes and asparagus.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
OMG! These are just like my favourite Molasses Cookies from Archway - but better, cuz they're warm and fresh, and I know what's in them! The only only change I made was to use butter instead of margarine. I put them in the fridge for an hour before using a scoop to portion them out. I think these will be made daily in my house!

Pumpkin Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
I really liked this recipe. I made this with some Delicata squash that I steamed, then pureed. I did think it was a bit soupy at first, but I stirred it into the pasta and let it rest for a bit and the soupiness was totally soaked up. I also added some Swiss Chard sauteed with garlic, and would recommend adding garlic to the recipe whether you add the greens or not. Will definitely make this again. Thanks ConnorsMom

Carrot Cake XI

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
After reading the other comments, I made some changes and came out with an absolutely fabulous carrot cake! I didn't have applesauce so I used 1/2C canola oil and 1/2C coconut oil. I also cut it down to 1C of sugar, and added 1/2 tsp of ground ginger, and 1/4 tsp of freshly ground nutmeg. Topped it with cream cheese frosting in which I also reduced the sugar by half. So tasty that I'm making another one today!

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
This was good, but my family felt the cloves were overpowering. As in other comments, maybe some onion would make it work, or the complete elimination of the cloves. Served with pork loin chops and mashed potatoes. I may make this again, but with changes...

Sweet and Tangy Sauteed Collard Greens

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
We keep getting Collards in our CSA box, and this is the best recipe I've found for them so far. I really like the slight sweetness from the honey. We'll make this again. Thanks, Lauren!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
TASTY! Definitely agree with other reviews advising using less sugar and more topping, but my husband loved it. This one's a keeper :)

Pear Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
Fabulous! I followed the instructions to the letter. When it was warm, we topped it with whipped cream and some left-over Salted Caramel Rum Sauce - Delish! It was really good for breakfast straight from the fridge, too. Will definitely make again. Thanks Cathy!

Coconut (Haupia) and Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2011
I was so excited to make this because it sounded so good and I had all the ingredients. I found it to be a bit too sweet - maybe from too much chocolate in the top layer? I think the next time I make this I will use an Oreo crust lined with banana slices, and leave out the chocolate (I know, it sounds crazy - no chocolate?!?!)

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Super Tasty! I used Worcestershire sauce since I didn't have steak sauce, and I marinated them for about 24 hours. They came out super moist and yummy! Will definitely make again!

Pineapple Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
Tasty. I used peanut oil, adding the sesame oil at the end, with half the sugar and pepper. If I make it again, I will make a few changes: Fresh minced garlic, and no pepper. I'll probably use chicken, too. It seemed to cover that nice hammy taste a little too much for me.

Ghirardelli Coconut Almond Torte with Chocolate Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
I made this as written and it was totally delicious. I love that it doesn't contain flour! It actually tasted best served cold - the chocolate flavour came out more.

Chili Chicken

Tasty! I marinated chicken breasts and baked them as I don't have a grill. I also put some of the sauce on broccoli and baked that as well - it turned out Fabulous! Definitely will make again.

Cheese Souffles

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2011
So good! The only change I made was to use garlic powder instead of mustard powder. I also ended up cooking it about 15 minutes longer than specified and it could have used about 5 minutes more. I can't imagine adding more salt; it was plenty salty with the Tillamook medium cheddar I used. Can't wait to try it with other cheeses! Had to buy mid-sized ramekins to make this - I think I bought the same as the ones in the picture!

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
I've made this several times, and my family absolutely loves it, with no modifications necessary. For my DH, I also make a vegetarian version substituting veggie broth and garbanzo beans for the chicken. This is a quick, easy, delicious soup! Thanks, Star!

Hoppin' John

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I used leftover ham instead of hocks, black beans cuz I didn't have black-eyed peas, and brown rice. Very tasty served over cornbread, even if my ham chunks were purple, lol. People who review recipes they haven't even made need to get over themselves.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
So easy and delicious! I made these with the addition of 1/4 tsp cardamom for Christmas gifts. I did not double the coating as in some reviews as I found the coating to be just fine, though they did take a bit longer to cook. Love them! Thanks, Jan!
