Well, on this sugarless journey I've learned a lot.  I've learned that I can live without sweets.  I've  learned that a piece of fruit is even more satisfying than a handful of cookies.  (I really didn't know that before.)  I've learned that sugar puts on a lot of… MORE

Yes, I've gone sugarless.  I haven't had any sugary treats for 50 days.  My commitment is 60 days, but I'm going to continue right on through lent.  By the time I'm done, I'll be sugarless for 90 days.  You know what?  I haven't missed it.  I eat a lot of berries… MORE

Although our crockpot meals have been wonderful, we decided we need a change of pace.  Bob went out and bought an electric frypan.  PURE GENIUS!  Tonight we had hamburger patties, fried potatoes with onion and topped with creamed corn.  Such a nice change and the cafe smelled like a… MORE

My daughter, who married a Canadian and now lives in Toronto, came with her new husband for the week.  I always appreciate when they come because they are so gracious and accommodating.  Both of them slept on the couch and endured lots of love and jumps from Bruno and Josie, our Amstaff and… MORE

Well, as you know, I've been toying with my crockpot here at the coffee shop on one hand to cut costs, and on the other because I start teaching school next week.  I had to work in my room yesterday, so what I did was plan a crockpot meal the day before, do all the prep work in advance and… MORE

Can it get any hotter in Texas?  My goodness I think I would melt were it not for the cooled down watermelon I'm wolfing down and iced coffee I'm drinking.  I'm thinking tonight would be a good night for the Cobb Salad right here on Allrecipes.com.  Has anyone tried it?  I just can't face the… MORE

Ok, I've got to say, the crockpot was the smartest investment yet.  I just put everything in a ziplock bag and send it with my husband in the morning.  He throws it in the crockpot and has a hearty meal every night.  It makes me feel better about what he's eating, and we don't have to spend… MORE

Well, I invested in the crockpot and have cooked a few things in it--chicken stew being my first attempt.  It smelled wonderful in the coffee shop and tasted so good after eating junk food all week.  This week my daughter is in town, so we've been cooking at home, wrapping it in a towel for… MORE

I don't have time to cook anymore since my husband bought a coffee shop in Cleburne, TX.  It's been quite an exciting time in our lives, but we are eating out way too much and I fear (as I'm too scared to get on the scale) that I've gained back all the weight I lost.  I've got to get some… MORE

I am getting so tired of the same-o same-o.  I make lots of soups and stews in the winter.  As you can see in previous blogs I was working on beef stew.  I think I've got that down now.  I have a chicken stew my family loves.  I think what I need now is a bean soup… MORE
