Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Boy, people aren't kidding when they give this soup five stars! I followed the recipe except I browned the onions with the ground beef. Great with some grated cheese when served.

Beefy Lentil Vegetable Soup

I was really surprised how well the flavors of this soup blended together. It is delicious. The things I did different from the recipe were to use 2 cups carrots, 8 oz fresh sliced mushrooms, omit the celery, and only use 2 cups water.

Cookie Mix in a Jar VII

We made this recipe for ourselves, so it didn't get packed in a jar. It is a great recipe for little kids to help with and mix the dough with their hands. Like others, I found the dough to be too dry following the recipe instructions. I added some milk until the dough held together to shape into balls, and the cookies turned out fine. A great alternative to traditional straight-up peanutbutter cookies.

Cornbread Sausage Casserole

We've made this a twice so far and it's been a big hit with everyone. We've made two pans each time, one for those who like things mild (with canned green chiles and maple flavored sausage and mozarella cheese), and another for those who like it spicy (with jalepenos and spicy italian sausage). The only thing we've really changed in the recipe is that we saute the onions with the sausage so they aren't too crunchy.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

This is a great tasting recipe we'll be making for years to come. I added all the ingredients listed at the beginning, turned the crockpot on low, and let it go until I got home in the evening (about 11 hours). I removed the bayleaf, skimmed the fat off the top, and shredded the beef and put it back in the pot. The soup was still pretty greasy, so next time (time permitting) I'd like to cool it completely before shredding the meat, and pull the fat off the top when it is solidified.

Melt In Your Mouth Toffee

The overall rating on this recipe is very misleading!!!! I followed the directions exactly and came away with a burnt mess and a ruined pan. Don't waste your time!

Dad's Oatmeal Cookies

This IS a great recipe. If you like the spices called for, don't hold back on the amounts listed. I baked mine for 9 minutes a batch, so they weren't so crispy, and plan on throwing a piece of bread in the container with them to help maintain moisture. I measured these in a 1 TBSP scoop, and I came up with 6 dozen cookies.

Hearty Tuna Casserole

This is a very tasty casserole. It reminds me of a tuna melt. I took the advice of others and added 1/2 cup of milk. I also substituted waterchestnuts for the celery, and put the casserole under the broiler for 5 minutes after adding the tomatoes. Mmmm.

This recipe turned out extremely soupy. It tasted okay, but the sauce was like water. We tried adding flour, but it didn't help. Reheating the recipe the next day just made is even more runny.

Crab and Shrimp Delight

The flavor of this dish was okay, but the texture was very pasty, and the pasta not cooked through. I would add more milk than the recipe called for. I couldn't with a clean nutritional conscience, add all the cheese and onions this recipe called for, and I don't think it detracted from the recipe. Someone suggested using orzo, which I tried and think was a good idea.
