About this Cook
My name's Ariel Lynn. My fiance, Thomas, and I have been together/engaged for 2 years now. I'm kinda a pyrophobe, which is why it's taken me sooo long to learn how to cook, but I'm trying. I've always wanted to open my own little hometown diner since I was a little girl. :]
My favorite things to cook
Right now, desserts are my specialty. You know, cakes, brownies, cookies, etc. I'm working on learning to make more breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods, and they've all came out pretty good, but my desserts are by far the best. :]
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ever since I can remember, my mum and I would take a couple days in December and bake hundreds of different kinds of cookies for Christmas. It was always a lot of fun for me and it's probably why I enjoy baking over cooking a real meal. :P
My cooking triumphs
So far, I think my best cooking triumphs have been (1) my first big family dinner and (2) my first red velvet cake. The dinner included chicken, potatoes, peas, corn, gravy, and chocolate pudding for dessert. I had a lot of fun making it all. :] As for the cake, I was nervous making it, as I was making it for a friend who loves red velvet. I wanted to make sure it was perfect, which it was. :P
My cooking tragedies
The worst thing that's happened so far has been my first attempt at making my red & green velvet cake for Christmas '11. Somehow (the ingredients were right in front of my face) I forgot to add the baking soda and vinegar. Thus, my cake was more brownie-like than cake-like. It still tasted okay. It was just flat and spongy.

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries
I made these today and it was quite the experience. I'm not a fan of the fruit topping, so I left it out. I tried it and they weren't sweet enough, for my taste, so I melted a little bit of vanilla icing and drizzled that over them and they were simply amazing! This was definitely a special treat. :]
