About this Cook
35 years old. 2 children, boys. Active, casual lifestyle. Must have things organized
My favorite things to cook
Savory meats and veggies. Raw vegan cuisine is an amazing addition to any healthy lifestyle. Currently delving into the world of Charcuterie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are pretty good at pulling things together for a crowd.
My cooking triumphs
-- Conquered Julia Child's Beouf Bourguinon on the first try. Was my very first stew/wet roast. -- Birthday Cake debut in Rolled Fondant (used British brand, not Wilson's; yuck!) turned out remarkably well. -- The world of naturally fermented pickles is no longer a mystery. -- My children would rather eat my sausage than a store bought version :)
My cooking tragedies
I fail at anything without a recipe. I'm horrible without explicit instructions. Ah, but once I get a feel for how a dish is put together the recipes get thrown out the window :)

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
Bitter aftertaste :( I made it several times to make sure. Each time I got a bitter aftertaste. Bummer - how can a 3,000 user rating of 4.5 stars be wrong. . . oh well. . .

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
I loved it! Not too soft. I know a lot of people like a chubby and super-moist sugar cookie. But the soft ones don't transport very well. This recipe holds it's shape and moves to the parchment paper easily. And it takes the rigors of being packaged for gift giving. All this without being too crunchy. But I like a little crunch on the edges. . . just a little ;) My new cut cookie recipe!
