Tapenade

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2003
Fabulous! I added additional fresh herbs - parsley, basil, fresh grated parmesan with a dollop of good olive oil in the food processor. Excellent taste. I served on small toasts with a italian parsley leaf and small square of roasted red pepper as garnish - beautiful presentation!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
Great recipe! I added more spices, whole garlic and vinegar. Blended portions and mixed back in to pot. Very tasty - my vegetarian relatives loved it. For those of you not used to cooking vegetarian, it does take getting used to. I kept wanting to add a ham bone or bacon to the recipe but held myself back so the veggies would have something to eat at dinner.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
I screwed this recipe up every possible way and it was still great. My flour/butter/milk mixture never thickened, so I added more Velveeta. I also forgot to get shredded cheddar so used mozzarella instead. It was still tasty! I served with the Barbecue Ribs on this site and steamed artichokes - excellent! Will definitely make again.

Barbecue Ribs

Oh boy! What a treat! I didn't use soy sauce cause I was out - never missed it. Just added a little more garlic and rum. Try Mount Gay, you will not be disappointed! Yum!

Linguine with Clams and Porcini Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
This was fantastic! I used fresh-in-the-shell littlenecks and also added fresh "chowder clams" during the garlic step. Excellent taste and presentation! Family loved it - even the one who isn't wild about clams!

Barbeque Pork Two Ways

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2003
Great! Made with pork loin b/c it was on sale - threw all ingedients, including entire loin, plus lots of extra garlic and onion into crock pot in the morning before work. I shredded pork when I got home and I used more bbq sauce than ketchup and served it on toasted buns. Great leftovers too!

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2003
Great flavor! I used boneless lamb loin as my butcher had no shoulder. I put everything in the crock pot, left for work in the AM, came home and enjoyed! Definitely make with the Irish soda bread on this site!

Beef Wellington

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2003
This is the best recipe for Beef Wellington ever! Definitely use the pate even if you think you will dislike it, it adds so much depth to the flavor. I used a peppered duck pate and it came out fabulous. I also used individual fillets instead of the large tenderloin - much nicer presentation! Definitely will make again and again!

Slow Cooker Kielbasa and Beer

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2002
Great recipe - threw it in the crock pot before work with a bottle of Corona and the addition of a couple of bay leaves and garlic cloves. I used turkey keilbasa and my family was shocked that they had enjoyed it so much when I told them after dinner. (The boys frown on anything not full of fat!)

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
Excellent! I marinated the chicken in lime juice and chili spice before cooking. The pico de gallo is the best. Will definitely make again and will add scallions to the sour cream next time.

Grandma's Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
Great recipe! Quick and easy to make with good tasting cookies. They spead a lot when cooking so space more than 2 inches apart on sheet.

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
I made using PB Cups, Lindt white choc pieces and Milky Ways - all came out tasting great. Only problem is that they do not look all that appetizing, brown globs, ugh. For the second batch I added slivered almonds to the top and dusted with confectioner's sugar. Next time I will swirl some frosting on the tops.

Split Pea Soup

Excellent! Left out the carrots, added additional potatoes, onions and garlic. Added extra majoram and dried sage. Cooked longer to firm it up - will definitely make again and again!

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
Not impressed. The mayo was too overpowering, even though I cut it down to 6 oz. As an experiment I filled the remainder of the phyllo cups with diced pepperoni, tomato sauce and mozz. cheese with fresh oregano. This was a lot better.

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
I always do my own thing with recipes - never following them to the letter. However, I followed this one and it came out perfect. I served in a small crock pot as a dip with Tostitos arrayed around it.

Apple Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
Great cake! I substituted rum for the orange juice and left out the nuts. I also used three different kinds of apples and spread them throughout the mix. Apples in every bite! I made a simple caramel sauce and spooned over cooled cake.cake.

Greek Feta And Olive Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
Great dip! Made it for Thanksgiving - it was gone in 20 minutes. I made it the night before and added a little oil to moisten it up right before serving - also garnished with whole olives on the side.

Apricot Pistachio Rolled Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2002
Excellent! I allowed it to marinate overnight and the flavors mingled nicely. I also added some fresh rosemary which gave the dish further complexity.
