Chinese Spicy Hot And Sour Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
I used white vinegar instead of red wine vinegar and added chilli garlic sauce in it (to make it spicy). If you don't have ground pork, you can thinly sliced pork meat or even chicken, add a little oil in the saucepan, stir-fry thinly sliced ginger (1-2cm piece) and add the meat, stir well until the meat is browned and then you add the other ingredients. The ginger will add some spicyness into the soup as well. Since I did change the recipe, I gave it 4 stars. Overall, very delicious soup.

Malaysian Barbecue Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
For those of you who think this recipe is too salty, just cut down the soy sauce to 2 Tbp. and the dark soy sauce to 1 Tbp. Normally we eat it with rice, so it is not too bad. The measurement can be easily adjusted to suit your taste bud in this recipe, so don't be afraid to experiment with it. updated: 11/3/2003 ~Ching Lim

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2003
This cheesecake bar was easy to make and tasted just like cheesecake. I omitted the chopped walmuts for the crust and it turned out great. I will definitely make this again!

Cream Puffs II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
I love this cream puffs. I added 1 1/2 tsp. sugar into the pastry mixture and 3 eggs instead of 4. If after adding 3 large eggs, the dough is thick and fall steadily from the beaters when you lift them out of the bowl, you don't have to add the 4th egg. Add the 4th egg only if the dough still clinging to the beaters. I stored it in the freezer and the filling tasted like ice-cream. Yummylicious!

Cantonese Style Lobster

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
This recipe is great!! I didn't have ground pork so I left it out and it still turned out flavorful. I did add some chopped cilantro leaves at the end of cooking just because we loved cilantro. Definitely a recipe to keep, thanks Alison!

Lemon Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
This cake is high and light. I made a Almond Chiffon Cake with this recipe; instead of 1 Tbp. lemon zest, I used 1 Tbp. Almond Extract. It was delicious when served with raspberries jam.

Cajun Style Blackened Snapper

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
I cooked this tonight. My husband and I were not pleased with it. It tasted plain, didn't have any flavor, except burn taste. I would recommend you to sprinkle some salt while the fish still hot from the skillet. It might taste better with added salt. I would not make this again.

Coconut Meringue Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2002
A good variation from other cakes. This cake is moist with a slightly brown crunchy top. The coconut brings a nice flavor to the cake. My husband and friends love eating it. This recipe is a keeper! Thanks Carol!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
I made this pie for Thanksgiving because my friend doesn't like spices. This pie was really presentable. I thought the taste was pretty good, but I would recommend adding cinnamon and nutmeg, without those, it was kinda plain. Got to say though, this pie required a lot of work.

This pie is very good. It was a little too sweet for me, so I would cut down on the sugar next time.

This pie crust is so flaky, better than store bought. After having this, no more store bought from now on. I also used butter instead of shortening.
