As a true member of Generation Y, when I don’t know something, I Google it. Every question from who invented the dish washer (Josephine Cochran) to where can I find the best doughnuts in Seattle (The
Dahlia Bakery), or does the drum head reflection on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band…

Hi! I am Ivory a marketing intern at AllRecipes!
I grew up pretending that I was hosting my own cooking show when I would make anything from sandwiches to pouring cereal to baking cookies. I would talk to the imaginary camera, explicitly telling my “audience” what I was doing down to every detail. I had high hopes to be able to cook like those chefs I watched on TV, but sadly it did not work out accordingly. My cooking skills are just about at the same level as they were when I hosted my imaginary cooking shows, and that was when I was in elementary school not a college graduate. So now being a recent college grad I am hoping to broaden my scope of knowledge in all scopes of life, marketing AND cooking!!
I welcome you to follow my blog and experience this journey with me, one day at a time, cooking adventures and all!!!
My favorite things to cook
I would have to consider myself a baker.
This may be due to the fact that I am an excellent rule follower so when it comes to following a recipe I have that down, no problem. Or it could be the fact that my grandma would make the best baked goods and I am forever attempting to recreate her masterpieces!! Inspiration from my grandma and love of stirring!!
But I would love to be able to look at what I have in the cupboards or take something that sounds good in my mind and make it into something delicious from pure creation. Practice will make perfect, right?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everyone in my family is known to make a handful of phenomenal items, my dad can make a mean coffee frosting, to die for oatmeal, and steak grilled to perfection, my great aunt can make a fruit salad that belong amongst the clouds, my mom can take just about anything that goes into the oven and take it out as a flawless dish, and grandma well she was good at making anything. We still use all of her recipes and they are always a crowd and stomach pleaser!! So other then following the Toll House recipe for chocolate chip cookies, there is nothing I am know for…yet!
My cooking triumphs
If it has specific direction- fair game and possible cooking triumph!!
Oh but my one claim to cooking fame is that I can poach eggs in open boiling water!! Rachel Rae has got nothing on me!
My cooking tragedies
To many to list!! I have ruined chicken in the microwave while I was attempting to defrost it, made oatmeal that looked more like clam chowder, burnt grilled cheese so bad that my roommates though I set the house on fire, attempted breakfast by making pancakes that still had a gooey center, and this was just in the past few weeks.
