Single Crust Peach Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2005
I gave this a 5star rating...I would have given it more... I did mess up one thing...I didn't put the crumb mixture on the bottom before the peach layer...I read one review that said that would keep my crust from getting soggy. What I did was layer peaches, then crumbs, then peaches, then crumbs,etc...then I took a second crust and made lattice work on the top. I do have to say that this was about the prettiest and yummiest peach pie I have ever seen. (if I say so myself) I could go on and on. Made it for my mom on mothers day, and she is so picky, but she had seconds. thanks tons....

This turned out dry, and tasted like cornbread for some reason...don't know what I did...

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2005
This is the best cake...my dh always says, "you shouldn't make such big cakes for just the two of us...", and guess what...it is gone in a couple of days! Everytime I turn around he is getting another piece. I do put a little less oil in though...carrot cake is fattening enough...who needs any extra? Will make everytime we have leftover carrots...thanks for the amazing recipe...

Maple Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
Husband loves these...I don't like sweet potatoes...but I can let him have them on Thanksgiving, and they remind me of my "Grango's" family holiday meals. Thanks for the memories.

Southern Sweet Potato Bread with Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
Loved this...I am always trying to find something with sweet potatoes that my husband and I agree on...he loves them...I don't like them at all. But here is a recipe that makes us both happy. I made in mini loaf pans for gifts. Thank you very much...

Jeweled Fruitcake

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2004
I have made this recipe every year now when it starts to get cooler. I always get requests to bring it to the holiday get togethers. I do make a few changes though. I use raisins, dates, candied pineapple, and candied red and green cherries. I use any combinations of these, I just make sure I have the same combined amounts that the recipe calls for. I also start the night before, by soaking the raisins and dates in the brandy. It kind of plumps them up. Then I use the leftover soaking liquid to brush the bread with.
