About this Cook
I love to cook when I have time, I work two jobs now, so my time is limited to the quick and easy ones. But there is nothing better than a home cooked meal.
My favorite things to cook
Sweets, Sweets, Sweets, and then the childhood comfort foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgivings we would all gather at my "grangos" house and she would make the turking and dressing and potato, and everyone else would bring the bread, and desserts, and the like. Someone would always bring a "new recipe",and is was fun to see the reactions. Admitedly there were some flops, but still it is my fondest memory.
My cooking triumphs
I make a pumpkin jelly roll filled with cream cheese...I worked in Clinton, OK for awhile, and the HS choir would always do a fund raiser, that selling this. When I moved, I had to quit buying one, and start making for myself, because my family demands them. They never even noticed the I am very proud. They also love my fruitcake, which you know the rep that fruitcake gets...
My cooking tragedies
I have a recipe for Zuchini Bread that I had to throw away, because every time I made it, although it tasted very good, it sent everyone to well, you know what I mean. I just don't make it anymore, no matter how much our garden produces....I never figured out what caused that reaction... I also am not the best with yeast breads...I have made quite a few hockey pucks...

Single Crust Peach Pie
I gave this a 5star rating...I would have given it more... I did mess up one thing...I didn't put the crumb mixture on the bottom before the peach layer...I read one review that said that would keep my crust from getting soggy. What I did was layer peaches, then crumbs, then peaches, then crumbs,etc...then I took a second crust and made lattice work on the top. I do have to say that this was about the prettiest and yummiest peach pie I have ever seen. (if I say so myself) I could go on and on. Made it for my mom on mothers day, and she is so picky, but she had seconds. thanks tons....

Carrot Cake III
This is the best dh always says, "you shouldn't make such big cakes for just the two of us...", and guess is gone in a couple of days! Everytime I turn around he is getting another piece. I do put a little less oil in though...carrot cake is fattening enough...who needs any extra? Will make everytime we have leftover carrots...thanks for the amazing recipe...
