Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
We had this today with our roasted ribeye and it was amazing! We added extra garlic, some purple onion, and sliced jalapeno. We did not steam, but instead just sauteed it in the sauce. I put it on low for about 10 minutes and let it simmer together. We loved the entire meal. Thanks!

Basil Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
This smoothie was quite delicious. I did make a change. I used original greek yogurt in replacement of the sugar it calls for. Next time I will replace the water for orange juice. The basil is really nice in there. I may even add extra mango in there too. Thanks!

Blueberry, Banana, and Peanut Butter Smoothie

Reviewed: May 26, 2014
My fiance made this for himself and loved it. We did have to make a few changes. He is lactose and only likes the choc soy milk so he used choc soy milk in replacement of the regular white milk. We also did not have any yogurt in our apartment so we opted out of using that. He also added in choc whey protein to his shake. One last substitution was we used almond butter because it is healthier. We also added in ice because all of our fruits are fresh and never frozen. He will for sure make this one again.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
These are THE BEST brownies... EVERRRR! For real. We did exactly what the recipe called for. We did use a user suggestion to have the eggs at room temperature. So I just sat the eggs out for about an hour before I started. Wow. One suggestion I do have... double the recipe. These go quickly and you will wish you had more. You can put any leftovers you cant finish in the freezer. Just take them out and thaw them and you can zap them in the microwave or oven for a few minutes (seconds if in micro) and it will taste just as great. I cannot wait to bring these tasty treats to dinner parties and get-togethers! Thanks for the recipe!

Funnel Cakes

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
This just wasn't that great. It did fix our funnel cake cravings that we were having, but I will for sure try a different recipe next time.

Strawberry Raspberry Smoothie

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
This recipe was pretty good... but it needs some more work. I omitted the honey and used fresh raspberries. I also added a little ice after my first blend because it was too runny. It needs more ice for sure to give it that real smoothie feel. I think it would also be great to add a banana to it. Glad I found a basic recipe and now I will just add my own twist to it.

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
I made this smoothie for the fiance and I actually tried a different smoothie. He loved the smoothie and downed 2 servings within 5 minutes. I did make a couple adjustments. He wanted to add chocolate to it so we were going to add his chocolate protein powder but when we saw the recipe called for milk, we decided to use his chocolate soy milk instead of the protein powder. He is lactose so we cant use regular milk on him. We omitted the honey because we didnt want it to be too sweet since we used the chocolate milk. We also used almond butter - which is way better than regular peanut butter. It was amazing. I probably would have downed his drink instead of the one I made for myself because it was so tasty! Great job!

Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 16, 2014
I omitted the vinegar and used 2 tablespoons. I also only made half but I doubled the garlic and red peppers. I also added some yellow bell pepper just because I had them already. We let them marinate for 3 days but I was tasting them the second day and they were so good! They were super delicious!! I can't wait to share with friends. We served this with steak and asparagus. I think it would also be really great with pasta and/or salad.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: May 2, 2014
I am giving this 4 stars for a couple of reasons but the main being the gravy. I thought the gravy was horrid because of the addition of wine. Maybe I had chosen the wrong white wine but I def opt out of adding that next time. Yes, I will make this again, with a new gravy recipe. I did what past reviewers said to do... First I seasoned the meat with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne- I simply just sprinkled all of this on the chops and rubbed it in. We then pan fried it a bit longer and with the oil hot to make it crispy... But be careful! Too long will burn it! Then we put it in the oven for about 20 minutes. We chose not to add the gravy on top of the chops but instead put it in a pan on the stove and left it on the side (thank goodness bc we did not enjoy the gravy!) but overall it was delicious. We paired this with mashed potatoes and green beans!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2014
This was simply perfect. We enjoyed every bite. We did make a few changes. We used 3 cloves of freshly chopped garlic instead of the garlic powder, used a bit extra cheese, and instead of water with the cornstarch we used chicken broth. We also added in shredded chicken from a leftover roast. We topped it off with bacon bits. We put the leftovers in containers and put them in the freezer for an easy meal in the future.

Rachael's Superheated Cajun Boiled Peanuts

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
We made this recipe and it is amazing! My dad is from Alabama and that is where we would always enjoy our boiled peanuts... my fiance and I now live in Colorado and they do not have this tasty treat. We added cayenne to make it more spicy... and I think next time we will add fresh garlic instead of powder. Another user said they used beer and that may be a good idea too... and maybe throw in some sausage too. Trust us... you will want to make more than just 1lb... because right when you're finishing the first batch you will wish you had more... but will have to wait another 24 hours... haha

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
we really, really liked this dish. We used the first suggestion of using tin foil, so we made a foil basket around the fish and seasoned and pour in some sauce in each foil boat. We also added fresh chopped garlic. We put in the oven at 425 for 15 minutes and it came out deliciously. We had a side of white rice and steamed broccoli. I cant wait to share this with friends and family!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
This recipe is great. Def stir it up each time. We also used bacon grease instead of butter/oil. Freezed the leftover with the parchment paper. This will def stay on the popular side of our breakfast meals from now on.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I am giving it a 3 because i used butter instead of oil like another reviewer suggested and I wasnt all that impressed. It was very bland. I even added extra garlic since I LOVE garlic. Maybe I am just not a huge fan of chicken... but I felt like this recipe needed some work.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I rated this a 4 because I did not use the exact recipe. I took recommendations from previous reviewers and added a can of cream of mushroom as well as sauteed mushrooms to the dish. I also added a dash of cayenne for some spicy flavor. I pan cooked it slightly on both sides and then put the remainder in the casserole dish and baked on 375 for about 30 minutes. I served it with mashed potatoes.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
this is pretty dang good! I forgot to thaw my whip cream in time (bummer!) and i did use a blender to thoroughly mix the ingredients and to foam it up a bit. I also used 1% milk (all I had) and did not use exact ingredients... i just kind of put in what looked good. It is quite delicious even without the whip... but I am looking forward to this weekend when my whipped cream will be ready! Tried it again this time with the whipped cream! it was awesome!

Twice-Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
I have made many items on this site and have not been disappointed once until this recipe. I decided not to change the recipe because I always alter recipes and I thought that mashed potatoes of all things could not be skrewed up... i was wrong. Please... PLEASE... do what other reviewers suggest... add sour cream, ranch, anything... just read what they have to say and believe it.

this was pretty good... i did season my shrimp with some spicy seasoning since there was no spiciness in the pasta already. i also used a different kind of pasta noodle... but i guess that really doesnt matter.
